As a dedicated follower, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the release of “Aayirathil Oruvan 2,” starring Dhanush, which was announced in 2021. However, there hasn’t been much buzz surrounding the movie since then. Recently, the film’s director, Selvaraghavan, has shared insights into why the production is experiencing delays.
During a conversation with Gobinath on YouTube, the director admitted that there have been inquiries from film enthusiasts regarding the sequel’s progress. He admitted to prematurely announcing it. However, Dhanush will be the main star, but the production of the movie cannot proceed without Karthi’s involvement as well.
As a die-hard enthusiast, I can’t help but share some behind-the-scenes insights about this upcoming masterpiece. You see, while we were crafting this cinematic marvel, securing a producer to fund such a grand undertaking was essential. Not just any producer, mind you, but one who appreciates the scope and vision of our project.
Moreover, the actors were required to reserve an entire year’s worth of their schedules for the filming process. I know, it’s quite a commitment, but the result will be worth it!
Selvaraghavan, the brilliant mind behind this work, emphasized that budget constraints aren’t a concern. Intriguingly, he mentioned that VFX wouldn’t inflate the cost, but creating a film in the era of AI isn’t a walk in the park. It’s challenging and complex, yet we’re ready to navigate these uncharted waters for your viewing pleasure!
In 2021, Dhanush revealed plans for a follow-up to Aayirathil Oruvan, stating that post-production work would last approximately one year. Since then, there have been no new developments regarding this project.
For those unfamiliar, Aayirathil Oruvan is a 2010 action-adventure movie penned and helmed by Selvaraghavan. The story revolves around the journey of three characters, Muthu, Anitha, and Lavanya, as they set off in quest to find a missing archaeologist.
In a heart-pounding, history-loving frenzy, I found myself captivated by this movie that subtly echoed the Chola dynasty’s fall and the Pandya dynasty’s ascent. Starring Karthi, Reema Sen, and Andrea Jeremiah in pivotal roles, it boasted an extraordinary ensemble of talented actors like R. Parthiban, Pratap K. Pothen, Azhagam Perumal, Crane Manohar, and numerous others, who graced the screen in crucial parts.
Although it faced prolonged delays in production and received moderate success at the box office initially, the movie has developed a devoted fanbase over time, earning it a cult following.
Moving onto Dhanush’s upcoming projects, he will star in the socio-thriller movie titled “Kuberaa,” directed by Sekar Kammula. The release date for this film is scheduled for June 20, 2025. Additionally, you can look forward to seeing him on the big screen with the movie called “Idly Kadai” which will premiere on October 1, 2025.
On the other hand, Karthi will be appearing next in films like Vaa Vaathiyaar, Sardar 2, and more.
