As a long-time admirer of Tamil cinema, I must admit that this public spat between Dhanush and Nayanthara has left me quite surprised. Having followed their careers for years, it’s disheartening to see such a situation unfold. The use of footage from Dhanush’s production without permission is an issue that should have been addressed privately, in my humble opinion.
Actor Dhanush has brought a lawsuit against actress Nayanthara at the Madras High Court, claiming that she utilized scenes from his film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her Netflix documentary without obtaining permission first. The lawsuit also involves Nayanthara’s husband and director Vignesh Shivan. As reported by Bollywood Hungama, the court has ordered Nayanthara to reply to the lawsuit during the upcoming hearing.
As reported by The Hindu, Dhanush’s production company, Wunderbar Films Private Limited, has taken legal action against actress Nayanthara, director Vignesh Shivan, and their production company, Rowdy Pictures Private Limited. The complaint alleges that they utilized visuals from another project (NRD) in the film “Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale” without permission.
The production company owned by the actor from Raayan has asked the High Court for permission to take legal action against Los Gatos Production Services India LLP. This company manages Netflix’s investments in content within India, as it is based in Mumbai. As such, Dhanush asked the court to review 12 of their charters or founding documents.
After listening to all perspectives, the court allowed for further proceedings. It was established that a crucial aspect of the case falls under its purview. Therefore, Nayanthara must prepare her response for the upcoming court session.
The heated argument between two popular actors about the movie clip from NRD is causing quite a stir in the community. The clip, which was part of Vignesh Shivan’s film, is claimed to have been utilized in Nayanthara’s documentary without first obtaining the required permissions from Dhanush or his production company.
Consequently, Dhanush sent a formal legal warning to the couple. Additionally, he asked for a compensation of 100 million rupees and urged them to take down the footage. Upon receiving this legal notice, Nayanthara penned an open letter spanning three pages in response to the actor, expressing her disapproval of his lingering resentment towards her due to some private matters.
Apart from asserting that the video clips originated from personal gadgets, Nayanthara additionally mentioned this. However, it appears their bond has taken a turn for the worse. Just recently, the duo attracted headlines when they made an appearance at a wedding. Interestingly, despite being seated nearby, they seemed to deliberately avoid and snub each other.
