Dhanush files lawsuit against Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan for using footage from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her documentary: REPORT

As a long-time follower of Tamil cinema, I find myself deeply troubled by the ongoing legal saga between Dhanush and Nayanthara. Having grown up watching their stellar performances, it’s disheartening to see them embroiled in such a public dispute.

After the open letter and the ensuing uproar over the film “Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale”, actor Dhanush has now taken legal action by filing a lawsuit against actress Nayanthara and her husband, Vignesh Shivan.

According to The Hindu’s report, actor Dhanush has decided to take legal action against a famous couple in the Madras High Court. This is because they are accused of using footage from his film “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan” in their docu-drama without first getting permission from Dhanush, who produced the project under Wunderbar Films.

The same source indicates that Dhanush has filed a lawsuit application against an Indian company linked to Netflix, which is currently under consideration by the court. However, Nayanthara has not yet commented on this issue and is expected to do so before the next hearing.

It seems there’s a dispute between Nayanthara and Dhanush regarding the sharing of footage from the movie “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan,” which was produced by Dhanush’s company. The footage, directed by Vignesh Shivan, appears to have been used in a documentary without obtaining proper consent or rights from Dhanush’s production house first.

As a result, the actor served a legal demand to the famous duo, seeking a reparation of 100 million rupees and requesting them to delete the footage. Following this action, Nayanthara wrote an open letter spanning three pages, directly addressing the actor and alleging that he harbors a personal animosity towards her.

The open letter described that she and the documentary team had asked for a NO (No Objection Certificate) for using the footage from the movie but were not granted the same. Additionally, the actress also alleged that the footage used in the documentary was taken from private devices as well. The open letter against the actor only led to polarizing reactions from the audience and has now apparently reached the High Court.

Moreover, Dhanush and Nayanthara have been the subject of much conversation following their appearance together at a recent wedding. Despite being seated close to one another, they seemed to deliberately ignore and avoid each other during the event.
