After releasing the initial two episodes of “Dexter: Resurrection”, it’s been disclosed that Michael C. Hall, reprising his role as the title character, was the one who initially conceived the idea for this sequel series. In a recent chat, the 54-year-old actor shared insights into how the new installment in the Dexter saga was born, and he even named the individual who proposed its inception.
Michael C. Hall says it was his idea to bring Dexter back in Resurrection series
In conversation with Stuart Heritage from The Guardian, Michael C. Hall mentioned that he was the one who initially suggested the idea for the Dexter: Resurrection series. Discussing his involvement in its creation, the Six Feet Under actor explained, “The discussion began after I proposed, ‘What if he didn’t die?’ I can’t claim all credit for the entire project, but it was an idea that I casually brought up. What if the end of New Blood allowed Dexter to release a burden he had been carrying for a long time?
Later on, the actor explained his decision to join Dexter: Resurrection, even though Dexter was thought to have perished in Dexter: New Blood. He mentioned that as time went by, his viewpoint changed, and he appreciated more the opportunity to work with this particular team. Moreover, he felt that the way New Blood concluded could serve as a means to advance the character to a place he hadn’t quite achieved until then.
As a dedicated fan, I thought Dexter’s menacing serial killer met his long-overdue demise in Dexter: New Blood. The finale subtly hinted that it was his own son, Harrison, who ended his life by shooting him. But lo and behold, the character made a shocking return in Dexter: Resurrection! When asked about this unexpected comeback, Michael C. Hall, who plays Dexter, explained it by saying, “Well, you know, he didn’t get shot in the head.
The initial two episodes of “Dexter: Revival” were debuted on Paramount+ in conjunction with Showtime on July 11, and the rest of the series (eight more episodes) will be released one at a time on a weekly schedule.
