Showtime has added three new actors to the cast of Dexter: Resurrection, a forthcoming crime drama series. David Zayas (known for his role in The Bear), Jack Alcott (from The Good Lord Bird) and James Remar (recognized for his roles in Oppenheimer and It: Welcome to Derry) will all be playing main characters. Zayas and Remar are set to reprise their roles as Detective Angel Batista and Harry Morgan, respectively, from the original series. Meanwhile, Alcott will play Dexter’s son Harrison Morgan.
Who is leading the Dexter: Resurrection cast?
In its return, Dexter: Resurrection sees Golden Globe winner Michael C. Hall stepping back into the role of Dexter Morgan once more. Alongside Hall, Scott Reynolds (Jessica Jones), Tony Hernandez (Emily in Paris), and Lilly Burns (Russian Doll) are all serving as executive producers. Additionally, Hall will be lending his voice to narrate the inner thoughts of a younger version of his character in the prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin, which is played by Patrick Gibson.
This upcoming crime series is being overseen by showrunner Clyde Phillips in his executive producer role, with Marcos Siega set for directing and producing duties. At present, specifics about the storyline and characters are still under wraps. It’s anticipated that filming will commence this month. The project is a joint production between Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios.
The initial show was broadcast from 2006-2013 over eight seasons, featuring stars like David Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, and John Lithgow alongside him. During its initial broadcast, it garnered numerous Golden Globe and Emmy nominations, even winning a Peabody Award. Notably, David Hall was awarded a Golden Globe in 2010 for his outstanding leading role.
