Dexter: Original Sin Teaser Trailer Previews Patrick Gibson Prequel Series

As a seasoned gamer who has dabbled in the dark alleys of virtual Miami and hunted down countless digital serial killers, I must say I am intrigued by the upcoming prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin. Having spent countless hours dissecting plots and characters in gaming worlds, I can’t help but feel a strange sense of déjà vu with this new venture.

The streaming platform Paramount+ together with Showtime has unveiled a preview trailer for the upcoming prequel series titled “Dexter: New Beginnings“, which will be headlined by Patrick Gibson, well-known for his roles in The OA and Shadow and Bone.

The show “Dexter: Original Sin” is scheduled to premiere on Friday, December 13. This new series revolves around the character of Dexter Morgan, a young vigilante serial killer, who was originally portrayed by Michael C. Hall. However, unlike the original series, this one will be set 15 years prior to its events.

What happens in Dexter: Original Sin teaser trailer?

The opening scene of the 10-episode crime series’ teaser trailer introduces the main character, who confesses to being a “serial killer,” attributing his violent tendencies to his past experiences.

In Gibson’s portrayal of Dexter, he explains that his actions are justified because “it takes a community to mold a murderer.” The opening trailer for the prequel series also presents the principal characters, including Christian Slater (a Golden Globe winner) as Harry Morgan, Patrick Dempsey as Aaron Spencer, and Christina Milian as Maria LaGuerta.

In addition, the show will feature Sarah Michelle Gellar playing Tanya Martin as a special guest star. Meanwhile, the original Dexter actor will lend his voice to portray the inner thoughts of young Dexter.

You can watch the teaser trailer down below:

In 1991, the story of Dexter (Gibson) unfolds in Miami. Starting off as a student, he transforms into an avenging serial killer with uncontrollable bloodlust. As his inner darkness becomes too strong to resist, Dexter embarks on a journey to harness it. With the help of his father, Harry (Slater), he develops a Code that allows him to target and eliminate individuals who are beyond reproach, without drawing attention from the law enforcement. This proves to be quite tricky for young Dexter as he starts an internship at the Miami Metro Police Department, where his work could potentially interfere with his secret mission.

Completing our ensemble are actors James Martinez portraying Angel Batista, Alex Shimizu as Vince Masuka, and Reno Wilson in the role of Bobby Watt. The production comes from Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios.
