What is Dexter: Resurrection about?

At the same event where details about Original Sin were shared, Showtime unveiled plans for a new Dexter series titled “Dexter: Resurrection.” This announcement took attendees by surprise during the Original Sin panel at Comic-Con when Michael C. Hall made a surprising appearance.

As someone who has been a devoted fan of Dexter since its initial run, I’m both excited and intrigued by the announcement of the upcoming series set in the present day, serving as a follow-up to last year’s Dexter: New Blood. With the original show having ended in 2013, I’ve often found myself wondering what became of Dexter Morgan after his faked death. The recent developments promise to shed light on this mystery and potentially provide some closure for fans like me. However, being cautiously optimistic, I can’t help but feel a pang of apprehension given the high stakes and the long gap since we last saw Dexter in action. Only time will tell if the new series manages to capture the essence of the original while offering something fresh and engaging for both new and old viewers.

“Michael C. Hall’s brilliant portrayal of Dexter Morgan in Showtime’s most successful series will be delightfully repeated,” expressed Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global co-CEO and president/CEO of Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios. “The upcoming ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ is intended for the vast fanbase who have been loyal to the show for years. Additionally, ‘Dexter: Original Sin’ will attract a new audience by starting anew with the initial storyline, ensuring both old and new viewers are captivated.”

In the Showtime series that debuted in 2006, Dexter was originally acted by Michael C. Hall for eight seasons. His character’s father was depicted by James Remar, while Jennifer Carpenter took on the role of Debra. The cast also included Julie Benz as Rita Bennett, Erik King as James Doakes, Lauren Vélez as María LaGuerta, and David Zayas as Angel Batista.
