As a longtime fan of the original “Dexter” series, I’m beyond excited for the prequel, “Dexter: Original Sin,” now streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime. Having grown up with Dexter Morgan’s dark and intricate storyline, it’s fascinating to delve into his younger years and witness how his unique set of skills and morality were shaped.
In an exciting development for crime drama fans, the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin, which focuses on Dexter’s formative years before he became a forensic expert at Miami Metro Police Department, is set to premiere on both Paramount+ and Showtime. Set in the ’90s, this intriguing spin-off finds our protagonist beginning his internship, where he applies his scientific knowledge and understanding of human anatomy to assist with case solutions. Simultaneously, however, Dexter will undergo a distinct type of instruction.
With the guidance of his father, Harry, Dexter has decided to establish a personal code to manage his inclination towards killing. He intends to focus on individuals who have escaped the grasp of justice and continue to inflict harm on others. Determined to rectify this issue, Dexter plans to eliminate these individuals without drawing suspicion to himself.
As a longtime fan of Dexter, I’m thrilled to finally get a glimpse into the new series and see Patrick Gibson stepping into the iconic role of Dexter Morgan. The released images have given us more than just a sneak peek; they’ve granted us access to his inner circle. Christian Slater brings Harry Morgan to life with an air of authority and wisdom, while Molly Brown perfectly captures Deb’s complexity as Dexter’s sister and confidant.
In the third episode of “Miami Vice”‘s ten-episode season, Roberto Sanchez portrays Tony Ferrer, who is seen here handcuffed to a table. The reasons for Ferrer ending up in Dexter’s line of sight remain a mystery. Prior to this incident, Sanchez had been introduced as a recurring cast member, implying that any wrongdoings on his part transpired within the initial three episodes.
If “Dexter: Original Sin” doesn’t intend to alter history, Tony isn’t the initial person Dexter killed. As reported by Screen Rant, the event that sparked Dexter’s prolonged series of murders was triggered by a nurse named Mary, who cared for his father. Known as the “Angel of Death,” this title is given to medical professionals who aim to alleviate their patients’ suffering by ending their lives. Before Dexter took her life in retaliation, Mary had already ended those of five other individuals.
In the series’ opening episode, titled “Original Sin,” an pivotal event sets Harry off, allowing his son Dexter to take lethal action against designated targets, guided by a code they’ve established. The death of Nurse Mary, which occurred in 1991, is depicted in the show. Here are more first look images:
