Dev Patel to Direct, Star in Action Movie The Peasant

As I excitedly share this news with fellow fans, here’s a glimpse into my enthusiasm: I, being one of Dev Patel’s ardent admirers, am thrilled to announce that he will be directing, starring in, and writing an upcoming period action thriller titled “The Peasant.” This tantalizing tidbit comes straight from a recent report by THR. The anticipation is real!

What is The Peasant about?

In the upcoming days, The Peasant will witness Patel assuming the role of a director for another project, as he did in 2024’s Monkey Man. According to reports from THR, Patel is set to collaborate with Thunder Road again, the same production house responsible for the creation of Monkey Man.

The film is said to incorporate aspects reminiscent of both Braveheart and John Wick, and it’s rumored to blend the settings of medieval Europe and feudal India in an intriguing fusion.

The story is set in the 1300s and revolves around a shepherd who embarks on a vengeful crusade against a band of rogue knights who devastated his village, ultimately unveiling that he’s not just an ordinary shepherd.

Initially, it seemed that the film project started in collaboration with Will Dunn (Ms. Marvel). However, no progress materialized from this initial partnership. Later on, when Patel became involved, the movie’s locale was shifted from an Italian setting featuring the Pope, to one based on India instead.

After his role in “Monkey Man”, Patel’s subsequent project involves him acting in the chilling psychological horror movie titled “Rabbit Trap”. This film was recently screened at the Sundance Film Festival, and it tells the story of a married couple who, upon disturbing a fairy ring, find themselves grappling with its unsettling consequences.
