As a die-hard Destiny fan who has spent countless hours exploring the rich universe Bungie has crafted, I can hardly contain my excitement about Destiny: Rising. Having grown up with the franchise since its inception, I’ve witnessed the rise and fall of Guardians, the evolution of weapons, and the ever-changing dynamics of the universe. The announcement of a mobile title set in an alternate history version of this universe is like a dream come true.

Players of Destiny have been eager for new activities within Bungie’s world for quite some time now, and now, NetEase is fulfilling that anticipation. The creators of Diablo Immortal, Marvel Rivals, among others, have unveiled Destiny: Rising – a mobile game taking place in an alternate timeline of the successful Bungie universe.

Destiny: Rising is a new mobile game featuring hero characters set in an alternate timeline

On October 14, 2024, NetEase unveiled Destiny: Rising, a mobile game that is free to play, which takes place in an alternate universe timeline, following the events after “The Collapse” in a post-Dark Age era. In this game, players will assume different heroic roles, acquire unique Exotic weapons to tailor their gaming experience, and engage in single-player, cooperative, and multiplayer game modes.

The announcement specifies that Destiny: Rising will feature campaign missions, team-ups with up to six players in cooperative strikes, and both fresh and replayable player versus environment (PvE) and player versus player (PvP) modes. Furthermore, a unique aspect of Destiny: Rising within the franchise is the ability for players to toggle between first-person and third-person perspectives, an option that has previously been limited to sword play and specialized game mechanics.

It appears that the mix of old and new characters in Destiny: Rising will play a significant role, according to the press statement. “Recurring characters from Destiny are accompanied by an array of fresh, captivating figures,” it explains. “Each character offers a deep backstory, distinct traits, and impressive abilities.” It goes on to say that selecting the right character and becoming proficient in their fighting style will be crucial for you to conquer the difficult adversaries you’ll encounter.

The good news is that players won’t be limited to touchscreens, as the game supports PlayStation, Xbox, and some mobile-specific controllers. There is a closed alpha test scheduled for November 1, 2024, and players can pre-register for the game via the Destiny: Rising site.

It’s yet unclear if Destiny: Rising, the new mobile game from NetEase, will captivate longtime Destiny fans who have been dedicated to the franchise for a decade. Keep an eye on our Destiny: Rising page for updates and insights into this exciting new title.
