Destiny 2 Players beg Bungie to finally silence annoying NPCs

As a seasoned Guardian with countless light years under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of familiarity – and, dare I say, exasperation – when it comes to certain NPCs in Destiny 2. Eva Levante, the ever-so-cheerful space grandma, has been a staple for years now. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate her dedication to her lost grandchildren, but hearing the same three lines about Carlos and Maria has become as routine as my weekly raid runs.

As a dedicated Destiny 2 player, after sinking countless hours into the game, you’ve undeniably grown accustomed to hearing the same familiar voice lines on repeat. The enthusiastic community of Bungie’s free-to-play shooter has been vocal about the need for fresh voice lines from one NPC who just can’t seem to keep quiet!

After the launch of The Final Shape, there’s an unusual predicament surrounding Destiny 2. Given the recent abandonment of a spin-off title, players are expressing concern about the game’s continuation, particularly since updates seem to make certain NPC characters appear disconnected from the flow of time.

Destiny 2 Players vs Eva

In the game Destiny 2, character Eva Levante, a human NPC, is often seen braving the cold, seemingly waiting for her grandchildren who have passed away. Despite being part of the live-service game for several years, Eva maintains her position and repeats the same three phrases.

Users in the Destiny 2 online community have been urging developer Bungie to allow players to offer Eva a cup of coffee as a means to silence her persistent dialogue. After enduring the same limited phrases from this elderly NPC for four years, players are growing increasingly frustrated with her repetitive speech.

“If she doesn’t shut up about Carlos and Maria, I’m gonna make sure she joins them,” another said.

Bungie has a lot to fix

Over nearly a decade since its initial release, I can’t help but feel that Destiny 2’s NPCs could use an overhaul. Despite the dynamic shifts within the game’s universe, it seems these in-game characters are still discussing events like The Red War in public areas – something that feels a bit outdated to me as a dedicated fan.

Although these occurrences remain significant in the Destiny universe, they are comparatively quieter events, such as the vanquishing of The Witness. As a result, players might find themselves disconnected from the timeline while traversing Destiny’s social spaces.

Given rumors that Destiny 3 isn’t being worked on and Marathon might be pushed back, it looks like Bungie is focusing on expanding Destiny 2. Under these circumstances, it wouldn’t be surprising if fans anticipate changes or major adjustments in the behavior of NPCs within Destiny 2, or perhaps a substantial overhaul to their current numbers.
