Destiny 2 players are getting “unreleased” weapons no one is “supposed to get yet”

In the course of Destiny 2: Episode Heresy, players have been having a blast so far, with Acts 2 and 3 scheduled for release in March and April respectively. Recent leaks suggest that Act 2 might feature new cutscenes and possibly a boss rush mode, while Act 3 could offer a new weapon and a “80% damage buff” perk as a pre-order bonus, tentatively for Apollo. As for unique weapons specifically for Heresy, it’s rumored that Destiny 2 players are slated to obtain “unreleased” firearms and guns that supposedly aren’t accessible yet.

Destiny 2 players report getting “unreleased” weapons

Players of Destiny 2 have shared experiences of obtaining previously unavailable weapons during Act 1 of Heresy. This intriguing find was first posted by Reddit user Hedgyyy, who received the “Void 660 charge time fusion: Afterlight”. The user stated that this weapon mysteriously appeared in the last slot of their vault on DIM as an unknown symbol (???).

Initially, BungieLeaks brought this problem to light on February 4th, yet it seems that the issue remains unresolved even after update 8.2.0.1 was launched. The unusual weapons that players are receiving include the Afterlife and a combat bow known as Anamnesis, which have not been officially released.

In terms of its occurrence, this particular event is exclusive to the Tome of Want. This is a fresh addition introduced for Episode Heresy, offering players an opportunity to specialize in obtaining specific weapons, armors, or currencies beyond the regular loot drops, alongside them.

In simpler terms, the leading comment on the Reddit post suggests that “The Tome of Want is distributing guns that you shouldn’t have at this stage, only if you fill up the initial box with nothing in the middle slot.” Another user explained that “players must disregard the middle compartment [and] should still place the essence of desire to initiate the ritual and obtain the weapon.

Despite the weapons being unutilized and intended for future use, the original poster mentioned in the comments that “it functions as usual,” implying that there are no restrictions on its operation.

Since the debut of Heresy Act 1, there have been continuous reports of accidental weapon discharges, and this issue persists even following the release of update 8.2.0.1. It seems that Bungie has yet to address this problem.
