Destiny 2 fans blast Bungie’s “terrible buffs” to exotic class item farming

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must admit that I’ve seen the highs and lows of gaming communities, but the current state of Destiny 2 is truly a sight to behold – or rather, a spectacle to lament. Having invested countless hours into this universe, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia for the good old days when Bungie was at the top of their game.

As a dedicated Destiny 2 gamer, I’ve got to say, things have taken a turn for the tough recently. The Final Shape expansion was a triumph, but since then, Bungie’s had some rough times, including mass layoffs that have left many of us concerned about the game’s future. The player count has dropped significantly, and it’s clear that fans aren’t satisfied with where things stand right now. Post the latest update, the community is expressing their discontent over Bungie’s “less than ideal” adjustments to exotic class item farming – a move that hasn’t gone down well with many of us.

Hey there fellow gamers, I’ve got some unfortunate news about one of our beloved studios – Bungie. Despite the phenomenal success of The Final Shape, it hasn’t shielded them from the turmoil they’re facing right now. After a wave of layoffs, whispers suggest that Bungie has decided to shelve a Destiny 2 spin-off project, focusing instead on their upcoming game, Marathon. There’s a growing concern that Marathon might experience another internal delay. Keep your fingers crossed for them as they navigate these challenging times.

Although there’s excitement about Marathon potentially making a comeback, many supporters are hoping that Bungie continues and enhances their backing for Destiny 2 instead. Recently, Bungie introduced an update, but one of its adjustments has stirred discontent among the gaming community.

As a dedicated Destiny 2 player, I’m thrilled about the enhancements Bungie has made in the 8.0.5 update to the farming process for my favorite Exotic Class Items!

  • Adjusted chances for acquiring Exotic class items from chests to be more generous.
    • Increased progression on escalation chest chances.
    • Removed progression on world chest chances.
      • World chests can still drop the item but won’t increase drop chances from future chests.

Regrettably, although labeled as enhancements, the recent modifications have received significant backlash from the community. One Reddit user fiercely criticized Bungie by exclaiming, “Three Overthrows for one Exotic Class Item is preposterous,” while another Reddit post states, “Bungie, the ‘buffs’ to exotic class item farming are not effective. Please try again.”

Bungie, the “buffs” to exotic class item farming ain’t it. Try again please.

Later on, thatguyonthecouch expresses disappointment, saying, “Going from a regular drop every 15 minutes or so to one every 30-60 minutes feels awful. I can’t help but wonder if anyone at the studio ever tested this even once? It’s hard to believe that such an issue would make it into the live game.”

In consensus with the original poster’s feelings, all responses share similar sentiments. One response expresses, “This is so stupid. They had a win with the class item and turned it into another ‘Bungie is dumb and bad’ moment.” Another comment suggests, “The person who thought this system was good needs to reconsider their decision.”

It seems that the adjustments made aren’t likely to be reversed, as they were primarily intended to address AFK farming rather than improving the overall farm experience. The additional changes can be seen as a smokescreen for this main objective.
