The acclaimed TV show “Desperate Housewives” is making a comeback to “Wisteria Lane”. It’s been confirmed that this popular ABC mystery-comedy-drama will undergo a revival at Onyx Collective.
The American television show “Desperate Housewives” debuted on ABC in 2004 and concluded its eight-season broadcast on the same network in 2012, encompassing a grand total of 180 episodes. Narrated from beyond the grave by a young woman who has passed away, this series takes place on the fictional Wisteria Lane street and chronicles the lives of a group of women as they delve into mysterious happenings following their neighbor Mary Alice Young’s (played by Brenda Strong) untimely demise.
The show featured Teri Hatcher portraying Susan Mayer, Felicity Huffman as Lynette Scavo, Marcia Cross as Bree Van de Kamp, and Eva Longoria as Gabrielle Solis. During its initial five seasons, Nicollette Sheridan was also a cast member playing Edie Britt.
What to expect in the Desperate Housewives reboot?
The revamped version of “Desperate Housewives” is going to be titled “Wisteria Lane,” a name inspired by Kerry Washington’s Simpson Street and 20th Television. This news follows the series marking its 20th anniversary in October of last year.
According to Deadline’s write-up, a new series titled “Wisteria Lane,” penned by Natalie Chaidez (known for her work on The Flight Attendant), is being characterized as an entertaining, sensual, and witty soap/mystery that resembles Desperate Housewives. This show revolves around a close-knit group of five friends with diverse personalities who reside on the idyllic Wisteria Lane cul de sac. At first glance, these Wisteria neighbors appear to be living the ideal life: stunning houses, content families, and luxurious SUVs parked in their driveways. However, beneath the white picket fences and cheerful social media posts hide SECRETS.
In addition to Washington, Pilar Savone, and Stacey Sher, Chaidez will co-produce this project as well.
As a passionate fan, I can’t help but share an exciting piece of news: Marc Cherry, the genius mind behind Desperate Housewives, has hinted at a potential reboot! In a recent interview with People, he expressed his thoughts, saying, “I’d likely set it in an earlier decade. The character I yearn to write again is none other than Wisteria Lane itself. That street was my favorite playground in the history of television – we owned the entire street, and I know every inch of it as if it were the back of my hand.
