As a die-hard fan of Desperate Housewives, I can hardly contain my excitement at the prospect of a prequel series! Marc Cherry’s creative genius brought us eight seasons of captivating drama, witty humor, and a touch of the absurd, all set against the picturesque backdrop of Wisteria Lane.

Marc Cherry, the brain behind “Desperate Housewives”, is planning to return to the enchanting Wisteria Lane in a new prequel series that serves as a reboot. The original show spanned over eight seasons on ABC and left an indelible mark on pop culture, bagging several Emmys and spawning numerous adaptations across the globe.

Marc Cherry wants to develop a Desperate Housewives prequel series

In a fresh chat, Cherry voiced his ambition to create an origin spin-off for Desperate Housewives. He likened Wisteria Lane, the central location of the series, to a character, confessing that reminiscing about the imaginary avenue was what he longed for the most in his writing process.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but express a desire to revisit an idea from an earlier era. The character I yearn to write again is none other than Wisteria Lane. Writing for that street was like having the best playground anyone in television history could ever ask for. We weren’t just writers; we owned the entire street. I know every nook and cranny of that street, just as if it were the back of my hand. Whenever a commercial is shot on that street, I instantly recognize it because I know all those houses, and I understand the geography. Writing for Wisteria Lane was an unparalleled joy.

Additionally, Cherry mused that he might consider setting a prequel to the story on Wisteria Lane during the year 1966.

The creator of Devious Maids expressed that he holds a sentiment of wanting to revisit the project, now armed with the wisdom accumulated over the years. He mentioned that any potential reboot must have a strong artistic motivation. “At some point,” he said, “I’ll discuss with someone whether there’s a compelling enough reason for us to do it again.

At the moment, you can catch up with Desperate Housewives on both Hulu and Amazon Prime Video. The show’s star-studded cast includes Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, and Eva Longoria.
