Deon Cole's BET thriller Average Joe to stream on Netflix ahead of season 2

As a huge fan of thought-provoking and suspenseful television shows, I can’t help but get excited about the latest addition to Netflix’s streaming lineup – the thriller series “Average Joe,” starring Deon Cole. Having followed Cole’s career since his days on “Black-ish,” I’ve been impressed with his versatility as an actor and his ability to bring depth and nuance to every role he takes on.

Netflix has secured the permission to broadcast an additional original series from BET+, titled “Average Joe,” which features Deon Cole as the lead actor. The full first season consisting of ten episodes is scheduled to arrive on Netflix starting August 15, 2024. Production for a second season is ongoing and will be released on BET+ at a later time. Whether or not the second season will eventually appear on Netflix remains uncertain.

Robb Cullen, who has worked on shows like “Las Vegas,” “Back in the Game,” and “Mr. Robinson” in the past, is the brainchild of the television series called “Average Joe.” Additionally, he collaborated on the screenplay for the crime comedy movie “Once Upon a Time in Venice,” featuring Bruce Willis in the lead role.

Drawing inspiration from Cullen’s real experiences, the film “Average Joe” introduces Emmy-nominated actor Deon Cole as Joe Washington. In this role, Washington is a hardworking plumber who unwittingly gets entangled in the Russian mafia’s web of crime after discovering that his late father had stolen a substantial amount of money from them before passing away. Deon Cole previously gained recognition for his part as Charlie Telphy on the comedy series “Black-ish.” Additionally, he has appeared in “You People” on Netflix and portrayed Alfonso Harris in the musical drama “The Color Purple.”

Among the actors featured in the production are Tammy Townsend, Malcolm Barrett, Cynthia McWilliams, Michael Trucco, Ashley Olivia Fisher, Kathrine Barnes, Ashani Roberts, and Pasha D. Lychnikoff.
