I can’t wait for me to dive back into the bizarre yet captivating world of Death Stranding 2! This highly-anticipated sequel from Kojima is not only larger and better, but it’s also weirder than ever – if that’s even possible! The creator himself has mentioned that DS2 feels like a return to the style of Metal Gear Solid V more so than he initially anticipated. Intriguingly, Kojima has also shared that the game underwent changes following playtests because players were simply enamored with it.
As exciting as all the development updates have been, the time for chatter is now over. Here’s where you can find the countdown to the release date of Death Stranding 2, as well as information on how to score early access and other interesting details.
Death Stranding 2 release date
Death Stranding 2 will officially launch on June 26th. But if you can’t wait that long, there’s early access available starting from June 24th.
Approximately six years have passed since the initial game was launched exclusively on PlayStation in November 2019. It expanded to PC platforms in 2020, followed by a highly acclaimed Director’s Cut release in 2021.
Regrettably, for PC users, it seems that history is repeating itself since Death Stranding 2 is initially releasing exclusively on PlayStation, with a potential future release yet undetermined. Let’s hope the wait isn’t prolonged like it was with Death Stranding 1.
When does Death Stranding 2 come out?
The scheduled release date for Death Stranding 2 is set at 9PM Pacific Time on June 25th. This corresponds to midnight Eastern Time and British Summer Time on June 26th. If you choose early access, the game will be available at 9PM Pacific Time on June 23rd, which is also midnight Eastern Time and British Summer Time on June 24th.
The launch times for everything listed above are provided by the PlayStation Network Store. We’ll make sure to revise this post if any updates occur.

How to play DS2 early access
To enjoy early access to the game, you need to pre-order the Deluxe version instead of the standard one. This upgrade gives you the privilege of playing the game 48 hours ahead of those who choose the standard edition.
This time, the sequel is exclusively available on PlayStation 5 (PS5), meaning there won’t be a backward-compatible version for PlayStation 4 (PS4). Furthermore, the game has been optimized for the PS5 Pro, so if you own this model, you can expect enhanced visuals and smoother gameplay.
In this game, you won’t find traditional multiplayer or cooperative modes, but multiplayer functionality is making a comeback in a style reminiscent of the original release. As verified on the PlayStation store, the Social Strand System will be back, allowing you to leverage shortcuts established by other players across the world, and also share your feedback and comments.
