As a hardcore history and drama enthusiast gamer, I can hardly contain my excitement about the latest addition to the star-studded cast of Netflix’s upcoming limited series, “Death By Lightning.” Up-and-coming British actress Laura Marcus joining the roster is just the cherry on top of this already tantalizing production.

I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be bringing Mollie Garfield, President Garfield’s daughter, to life in an upcoming historical drama. Following my roles in The Serpent Queen and The Jetty, this new project adds to my growing list of television appearances, which includes Silent Witness, Tom Jones, Bad Education, and Miss Scarlet & the Duke.
Who is in the Death By Lightning cast?
Marcus is set to join an already announced ensemble, including Matthew Macfadyen as Charles Guiteau, Michael Shannon as President James Garfield, Nick Offerman as Chester A. Arthur, Betty Gilpin as First Lady Crete Garfield, Bradley Whitford as Secretary of State James Blaine, Shea Whigham as Senator Roscoe Conkling, Stephen McKinley Henderson as Senator Blanche Bruce, Paula Malcomson as Franny Scoville, and Tuppence Middleton as Kate Chase Sprague. (In simpler terms, Marcus is the latest addition to a group of actors who were previously announced for their roles in this project.)

According to Candice Millard’s book “Destiny of The Republic,” the limited series “Death by Lightning” is developed and overseen by Mike Makowsky. Matt Ross is set to direct each episode, while David Benioff and D.B. Weiss from “Game of Thrones” fame, as well as Ross, Bernie Caulfield, and Duncan Muggoch, serve as executive producers.
