Deadpool & Wolverine’s Ryan Reynolds Interviews ‘Dadpool’ Who Lost Son to Accidental Suicide

As a fan, I must say that Ryan Reynolds continues to impress me not only with his acting skills but also with his compassionate heart and thoughtful actions. The interview he conducted with ‘Dadpool’ John Bell was truly moving and inspiring.

Ryan Reynolds plays the character Deadpool in the hit superhero film Deadpool & Wolverine, which is currently performing exceptionally well at cinemas worldwide. Lately, he had an interview with ‘Fatherpool’ John Bell, a true-life hero who committed himself to mental health charity work following the tragic suicide of his son.

In his YouTube Channel, Bell posted a video featuring Reynolds interviewing him. During this video, Reynolds disclosed that he had learned about Bell six months prior to the recording. Tragically, Bell’s son, Jake, took his own life accidentally in July 2020 at the age of 15. It was known that Jake was an ardent fan of Deadpool.

As a longtime fan of both Wrexham A.F.C. and the Marvel Universe, I was genuinely touched by the recent act of kindness displayed by co-owner Rob McElhenney and his fellow owner Reynolds. Their generosity towards Bell’s charity initiative, Walking 4 Hope, is a testament to their compassion and dedication to making a difference in people’s lives.

As a passionate supporter of Walking 4 Hope, I’m proud to share that its founders, Bell and Chris Atkinson, who serve as the Chair of Trustees, established this charitable organization with the help of our close-knit family and friends. Our ultimate goal is to provide aid and support to individuals facing circumstances similar to those we care deeply about. Interestingly, each of the ducks in our charity symbolizes someone that a family supported by Walking 4 Hope has sadly lost.

Prior to the interview, Reynolds had experts transform Bell into a Deadpool character for a special occasion. Asked about Jake, Bell reminisced, “Oh, let me tell you about him! He was hilarious, full of humor, and we were inseparable.”

Originating from Nottinghamshire, he went on saying, “He was my first child, and he meant everything to me.” In the clip, Bell articulates as he walks that the tub symbolizes the burden individuals bear when dealing with mental health issues, yet it’s depicted visually.

Bell admitted that he found himself in a deeply troubling state following Jake’s demise, as he confided to Reynolds. He explained, “For about a year, I contemplated my own death and even convinced myself to stay alive due to my family’s needs, especially my children. However, what I do each day helps me continue living because I’ve come to terms with death. I believe that I will eventually reunite with him, but certainly not now.”

Reynolds praised Bell for his resilience, explaining how he had turned sorrow into something remarkably beneficial. He also mentioned, “I appreciate you telling his story. Let me share that if I love my son even a tenth as much as you love Jake, I believe I’ve managed quite well.”
