Previously, Evans played the character in Fantastic Four (2005) and its sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). Later, he was chosen to play Steve Rogers / Captain America within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He portrayed this role across several films within the franchise until Avengers: Endgame (2019).
Despite having limited screen time, the character portrayed by Evans significantly influenced the storyline. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Evans shared his thoughts on the experience. “I only needed to make a short trip for filming, do a couple of days’ work, and then leave,” he said. “It was quite straightforward for me.”
Evans shared during the same interview that it was Reynolds who contacted him regarding the role. “Ryan’s a pal,” he stated. “He simply sent me a message saying, ‘Hey, it might be a long shot, but would you consider returning to something from 20 years ago?’ I replied, ‘Wow! Absolutely!'”
