As a long-time comic book fan and avid gamer who has grown up with Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine, I can only imagine the emotional reaction of being present on the set during his first camera test in the iconic yellow and blue suit. The anticipation and excitement building up to this moment must have been palpable.
Hugh Jackman’s iconic yellow and blue Deadpool and Wolverine suit made its first accurate screen appearance in this film. Previously, fans only got a glimpse of it in a deleted scene from The Wolverine (2013) and a hint of yellow added to his black X-Men: Days of Future Past costume. Now that the classic yellow costume is here, insiders have shared the excited reactions during Jackman’s initial suit test on set.

Recently, Wendy Jacobson, the film’s executive producer, shared that Jackman’s initial fitting of the costume brought about a unique and touching experience on the movie set. Some grown men were moved to tears, shedding joyful sobs.
In an interview with HeyUGuys through IGN, Jacobson described it as one of the most exhilarating experiences. Additionally, she remarked:
Before commencing filming, we conducted a camera test featuring both leading actors in their costumes. The sight of them together was already astonishing, but the moment Hugh appeared in yellow and blue attire, there were tears from grown men on set. This confirmed that we were part of something truly extraordinary.
In an earlier conversation with Variety, Hugh Jackman shared his shock when he initially donned the yellow suit for the first time. He found it hard to believe that he hadn’t worn the authentic comic costume before. Additionally, Reynolds confirmed Jacobson’s observation about the crew’s reaction by stating:
In all my experience, I’ve rarely witnessed such an intense response from a film crew. During the initial stages of development, we scarcely discussed the suit as it was considered a foregone conclusion. It’s almost unthinkable to portray this character without him wearing the suit now.
Shawn Levy, the film director, shared that Kevin Feige from Marvel Studios was determined to include Hugh Jackman’s iconic yellow suit in the movie. Feige appreciated how Wolverine remained a significant character despite being portrayed sans his suit, according to Levy.
“Wolverine’s significance goes beyond just his outfit – this is demonstrated by the fact that it wasn’t crucial.”
I strongly believe that Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine is synonymous with the iconic Superman persona played by Henry Cavill as Clark Kent. For over a decade, Jackman donned the yellow and blue suit, embodying the fierce and indomitable spirit of everyone’s favorite mutant.
