As a long-time Marvel fan and a Swiftie for nearly as long, I must admit that I was both excited and skeptical when the rumors of Taylor Swift joining Deadpool & Wolverine started circulating. The idea of seeing Swift’s charm and wit in the Marvel universe, especially as the vibrant mutant Dazzler, seemed too good to be true. Alas, it seems that the internet’s wild speculations were just that – speculations.

Shawn Levy clarifies that the gossip about Taylor Swift joining Marvel’s Deadpool and Wolverine was entirely unfounded.

Prior to the premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine, there were numerous speculations on the internet about popstar Taylor Swift potentially making an appearance in Levy’s Marvel Cinematic Universe film. One of the widely discussed possibilities was that Swift might portray Dazzler, a mutant character who can transform sound vibrations into light and energy.

In July 2024, the film featuring Deadpool and Wolverine premiered in American cinemas, and although Marvel Studios’ production included several unexpected guest appearances, Taylor Swift was not among them.

While conversing, Levy was queried whether there had been any plans to incorporate Swift into the film, or if those rumors were merely online conjecture.

As a gamer, I can’t help but share my thoughts on this wild rumor that suddenly popped up. It was nothing but a myth, pure and simple. Kudos to the internet for creating such a smoky haze of rumors and semi-truths, keeping everyone guessing about what was really going down.

Swift did, however, praise the Marvel movie over social media shortly before its release.

For several years now, I’ve seen one of my dearest friends on Earth invest every ounce of his emotion, effort, humor, struggle, happiness, defiance, shadow, and enchantment into this movie. He has produced the finest work of his career, and this film seems like a gateway to pure joy, an exhilarating escape from our world, and a delightful surprise. I can’t fathom how he achieved it, but that’s just Hugh being Hugh! Some unwanted guests accidentally entered the frame, and we were too courteous to ask them to leave.
