Deadpool VR makes YOU Marvel’s most risque anti-hero later this year

During the Summer Games Fest, it was revealed that the forthcoming Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S will feature unique, exclusive games where players take on the role of the wise-cracking Merc with a Mouth in a brand new tale set within the quirky realm of Mojoworld.

Deadpool VR takes players to Mojoworld

Deadpool VR, a highly anticipated cinematic VR game, has been in development for quite some time, stemming from the underappreciated “Path of the Warrior” by the studio. In this collaboration between Twisted Pixel and Oculus Studios, players will traverse various sites scattered throughout the Marvel universe, engaging in battles against both well-known and lesser-known adversaries. This game offers an immersive experience, taking you through a virtual tour of sorts within the Marvel Universe, not the VR one itself.

In the latest virtual reality game, it’s Neil Patrick Harris, famous for roles like Marshall Eriksen on How I Met Your Mother and The Doctor in Doctor Who, who lends his voice to a beloved Marvel Comics character. Based on the recently released trailer, he seems to be doing an excellent job voicing the character. Given his previous role as Count Olaf in the Netflix adaptation of A Series of Unfortunate Events, this isn’t entirely unexpected.

The trailer features an almost invincible mutant, who frequently breaks the fourth wall, speeding through various rooms using a whip reminiscent of Bulletstorm, hurling knives at adversaries and pushing fascists into spinning blades. It’s packed with explosions, pop-up text like comic books, and the typical chaos associated with a VR game starring an anti-hero.

In the press release from Meta, it’s stated that their VR game is similar to any fantastic one – if you can think it, you can likely do it. Instead of just attacking enemies with weapons, they encourage players to explore more unconventional methods. For instance, punching an enemy while holding a grenade, or after losing an arm in an explosion, throwing it back at the adversaries. You can even force an enemy’s face into a spinning propeller, although it may get messy. The enemies you’ll encounter – soldiers, demonic dogs, bizarre humanoid lizards, and creepy worm-like creatures – are all ready to be dismantled in unique (and possibly gruesome) ways.

The specific launch date for Deadpool VR hasn’t been set yet, but Meta has hinted that it will come out towards the end of this year. At present, there are no plans to develop a Quest 2 or PC version of the game.
