As a long-time fan who has witnessed the rise of some truly remarkable directors in Hollywood, I must admit that Tim Miller’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. Starting with Deadpool, a film that brought the Merc With a Mouth to life on the silver screen, Miller proved that he had what it takes to lead a blockbuster production.
Tim Miller has revealed how much money he made to direct Deadpool.
2016 saw me witnessing the big-screen debut of Marvel’s Deadpool, where Ryan Reynolds brilliantly embodied the notorious Merc With a Mouth. This movie, a box office sensation for 20th Century Fox, raked in an impressive $750 million. Subsequently, it spawned two sequels: Deadpool 2 in 2018 and Deadpool & Wolverine, slated for 2024.
How much did Tim Miller make to direct Deadpool?
Miller explained to Collider, “It might not be common knowledge, but directing a film for the first time in Hollywood isn’t usually a lucrative venture. To put it clearly, I was given $225,000 to direct Deadpool. While that may sound like a substantial amount, when you consider two years of work, it’s not a huge sum. I’m certainly grateful, but my agent pointed out that I could earn more per episode on The Walking Dead!
As a die-hard film enthusiast, I’ve often found myself correcting the misconception that every Hollywood player is swimming in millions. The truth is, it’s not a constant reality for everyone, and I was no exception. Despite my golden age of 50, when the opportunity to direct Deadpool came knocking, I couldn’t help but feel a tinge of disbelief. You see, even though directing a movie had been my lifelong dream, I had grown accustomed to thinking it would never come true for me.
In his first attempt at directing a feature film, Deadpool was the project chosen by Miller. Later on, he took charge of Terminator: Dark Fate in 2019. Additionally, he oversaw the reshoots for Borderlands, set to release in 2024, and served as an executive producer for every movie within the Sonic the Hedgehog trilogy.
On television, Miller has developed two animated anthology series. The first, titled “Love, Death & Robots,” was created for Netflix, while the second, known as “Secret Level,” is destined for Amazon Prime Video.
Deadpool is currently available to stream on Disney+ and Max.
