Dead Take introduces Ben Starr and Neil Newbon as its leads

Abubakar Salim, the Game Director, left a lasting impact in the gaming community with his first project from Surgent Studios, Tales of Kenzera: ZAU. Following the storyline of the young shaman Zau, Salim has now moved on to his next venture. Before this year’s Summer Game Fest weekend, Salim and Surgent Studios unveiled a chilling psychological horror game titled Dead Take. On Tuesday, they officially announced the two main characters of the game.

Ben Starr, recognized primarily for his character Clive Rosfield in Final Fantasy 16, is set to appear alongside Neil Newbon. Fresh from his involvement with Baldur’s Gate 3 and the role of Astarion, Newbon will portray Chase Lowry.

As per the casting announcement on Tuesday, the upcoming game titled Dead Take revolves around Starr and Newbon’s characters competing for the same character, Willie. This first-person psychological thriller will immerse players in various puzzles, some incorporating live-action video elements. Throughout the narrative, players will aim to unravel the events that transpired in an abandoned mansion the previous night. The empty film set hints at a plot where players must deduce what ultimately happened to Monroe and Lowry. Additionally, the announcement suggests the presence of a third significant role, but the identity of that actor remains undisclosed.

This week, Salim, Surgent Studios, and Pocketpair Publishing (their publishing division) have been consistently sharing updates about Dead Take. On Tuesday, they hinted that a release date for Dead Take would be announced soon. We’ll be keeping an eye out for this news, so stay tuned to Shacknews for the latest!
