Dead By Daylight leak reveals next licensed killer’s name and “tentacles” power

As a seasoned Dead By Daylight player with over five years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that 2025 is shaping up to be an unforgettable year for us fans! The anticipation is palpable as we eagerly await the new collaborations and crossovers Behaviour Interactive has in store.

2025 looks promising for Dead By Daylight fans, as Behaviour Interactive has already hinted at two major collaborations. Additionally, there might be two more significant crossovers yet to be officially announced, with one of them suggested in leaks for March. These leaks seem to reveal the identity and tentacle-related abilities of the next licensed killer in Dead By Daylight.

This month, before the new year rolls in, there’s plenty to look forward to! For Dead By Daylight enthusiasts, a whopping 1,500,000 Bloodpoints are up for grabs. Additionally, the December 2024 roadmap unveils the upcoming release date for a fresh map and BeHaviour’s traditional Bone Chill event. After the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Day (January 1st), we can anticipate an exciting collaboration with globally acclaimed artist, Junji Ito.

Next year’s collaboration with Junji Ito is generating immense anticipation, and fans are equally thrilled about the upcoming licensed character expected in March. However, no concrete information has been released yet as BeHaviour remains tight-lipped. But rumors circulating around DBD suggest that it could be a character from Tokyo Ghoul.

When is the next Dead By Daylight licensed killer?

According to the Year 9 plan, the upcoming licensed character for Dead By Daylight is scheduled to debut in March. However, players on Steam will get an early sneak peek of this new killer in February through PTB (Public Test Build). So, we’re just a few months away from discovering who the next killer will be, as Behaviour Interactive prepares to reveal their identity.

Initially, the community believed that the culprit could have been Kayako from The Grudge, but new speculations suggest it might be someone from Tokyo Ghoul instead. This information stems from Ruthless, who correctly predicted BeHaviour’s plans for a collaboration with a horror anime/manga, and also disclosed precise details about the Chapter 34 killer being female and having a pet companion.

Based on a Discord chat excerpt shared on the LeaksDBD subreddit, Ruthless responded “yes” when asked if March represents TG. Regarding the identity of the killer, Ruthless hinted that it’s highly likely (around 99% certain) to be Kaneki.

Take this with a grain of salt.

DBD leak reveals name and power for next licensed killer

Following rumors suggesting that the next licensed killer hails from Tokyo Ghoul, the LeaksDBD subreddit has received confidential details about the upcoming character’s name and abilities. As stated by the moderator, GetOutOfHereAlex, this new information was discreetly provided to us through modmail. Additionally, the source also furnished evidence of their access to the information, which unfortunately cannot be disclosed, but I can confirm their trustworthiness.

Based on the leaked data, the potential name of the assassin is The Mutant. However, please note that this is a temporary title and may be altered before the final release. Regarding its abilities, the leak suggests that the killer possesses tentacles which enable it to latch onto survivors and move towards them.

Apart from tentacles, the leak suggests that the villain may possess an “infectious mechanism” similar to the enemies in the Resident Evil series. However, this mechanic appeared unfinished because it didn’t seem to have any effect, and there wasn’t a way to counteract it. Lastly, according to the leak, a maskless version of one Legion member was used as a temporary stand-in for the final model.

There’s no official confirmation about the name or authority of the character, and it hasn’t been verified yet if Tokyo Ghoul will introduce a new killer character. Some comments suggest that the theme of infection might not fit well with Tokyo Ghoul, but these leaks could be early tests, so elements may change or prove untrue.
