The collaboration between Dead by Daylight and Five Nights at Freddy’s won’t be out until June, but the Public Test Build (PTB) is now accessible for play, unveiling perks for Springtrap. The PTB offers Steam users a sneak peek into the legendary FNAF character, along with allowing selected fans to explore the fresh pizzaplex map. Although not confirmed yet, it’s plausible that the FNAF map might introduce the upcoming “Asian folklore killer” in Dead By Daylight, which is slated for release during September.
Dead By Daylight FNAF map possibly shows new “Asian folklore killer”
During the Dead By Daylight anniversary live broadcast, Behaviour Interactive unveiled a new character: an “Asian folklore slasher.” This character is unique and won’t be based on any previously licensed characters, such as Sadako from the J-horror Ringu collaboration.
According to the Year 10 plan, the chapter should come out in September, featuring both a new murderer character and a survivor. Although no details are confirmed yet, there’s speculation that the killer might have already been revealed or hinted at as an Easter egg within the FNAF game map.
In a post made by OP, White_Mantra, on the specific subreddit for the game Five Nights At Freddy’s, it was noticed that one of the arcade machines within the map may have hinted at the name of the Asian folklore character said to be the killer: Jorōgumo. The title is intentionally blurred and difficult to read according to OP. Furthermore, a shadowy figure resembling a woman with multiple arms seems to appear, sparking comparisons to the memorable spider-woman from The Evil Within named Laura in the comments.

While not an official announcement about the September mystery character, it might be a hint or teaser since BeHaviour has a history of incorporating game clues for upcoming chapters. For instance, a movie titled “The Ghoul’s Lament” in Greenville Square served as a clue leading to Tokyo Ghoul. Similarly, “The Unknown” and “The Houndmaster” with voice lines suggesting they lived in forgotten dungeons and mentioning a dog could be hinting towards Dungeons & Dragons and something else, respectively.
As a devotee of Japanese folklore, if Jorōgumo is the culprit, then we’re dealing with a Yokai – a creature of ancient tales. In these stories, Jorōgumo is portrayed as a ruthless, lethal, and enchantingly beautiful spider-woman who feasts on handsome young men. While it’s possible that the survivor shares this handsome trait, it’s merely conjecture based on the legend.
