Dead By Daylight dev’s response to rumors of third Resident Evil chapter is potentially good news

2025 still has many exciting chapters in store for Dead By Daylight! In the next few weeks, we’ll see the full rollout of FNAF, followed by two Walking Dead-themed survivors in July. September will introduce an original killer based on Asian folklore, and then, come November, we can expect another pair of licensed survivors and a potential new killer, with rumors hinting at another collaboration with Capcom. The developers’ response to speculation about a third Resident Evil chapter is still up in the air, offering a mix of optimism or apprehension depending on your viewpoint.

Dead By Daylight dev responds to rumors of third Resident Evil chapter

A whisper about the potential third installment of Resident Evil in Dead By Daylight, set for release in November, has circulated on the GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit, based on information from RuthlessLeaks. This rumor allegedly originates from a voice chat where transcripts on Discord quote Ruthless as mentioning “Resident Evil part 3” for November, with “Jack as the killer” and “Ethan Winters and his daughter [Rose] as survivors”. It’s important to note that Ruthless added, “obviously take it with a grain of salt but that’s what I was told”.

Relentless in their accuracy on previous leaks like revealing The Houndmaster and hinting at Springtrap having an axe, but prone to errors too such as predicting Perfect Blue would be the horror-anime partnership instead of Junji Ito, and also mentioning plans for a Jurassic Park/World chapter.

Amidst whispers of a third Resident Evil installment, a DBD fan inquired from Behaviour Interactive’s community manager Eric Pope, “Could you please confirm that the upcoming chapter isn’t just another Resident Evil chapter?” To which he replied, “Why would it be so?

why would it be?

This statement doesn’t clearly say that Resident Evil part 3 in November is definitely off the table, but it seems to suggest it might not be happening. If you weren’t looking forward to another Resident Evil installment, particularly without Lady Dimitrescu being linked as the antagonist, then this could be a positive development for you.

As a devoted fan, I’m genuinely excited about the upcoming chapter in November, which will officially feature two survivors and one killer. This setup seems to add fuel to the Resident Evil rumors, given that the initial collaboration pitted Leon and Ada against Nemesis, while the second crossover saw Ada and Rebecca facing off against Wesker.

For November’s license, there seems to be no additional speculation about its owner. Some fans have proposed that it could be related to Stranger Things due to Season 5’s release around that time, but other widely discussed possibilities from the fanbase also include IT and Predator.
