On May 16, 2025, Santhanam made his grand entrance onto the silver screen with his movie DD Next Level, further expanding the horror-comedy series. In a recent interview, the actor shared an interesting tidbit about how he had anticipated the flop of Karthi’s film All in All Azhagu Raja years ago.
As a lifestyle expert, let me share my personal experience: When I sat down to review the screenplay of this upcoming movie, I immediately sensed its potential for failure. Upon arriving on set for the first day of shooting, I expressed my concerns directly to director M Rajesh, predicting that the film would not succeed. My intuition, honed from years in the industry, had already told me so when I read the bound script.
The actor noted that if someone wants to portray a woman convincingly on screen, it’s crucial to apply makeup skillfully, taking Avvai Shanmugi as an example. Unfortunately, in this movie, the makeup didn’t meet that standard, which was clear to him from the start. Since he had already received payment in advance, he couldn’t back out. He simply completed his obligations and moved on.
Essentially, Azhagu Raja is a Tamil-language comedy movie that made its debut in 2013. This film was penned and directed by M Rajesh. It revolves around the romantic comedy tale of a small-town cable TV owner and his confidant. The narrative unfolds when Priya enters their lives, leading them to develop feelings for her. However, they later discover that their families have an acrimonious history marked by humor.
In the starring position was Karthi, with performers such as Prabhu, Kajal Aggarwal, Santhanam, Radhika Apte, Saranya Ponvannan, and more in significant roles alongside him. Debuting during Diwali that particular year, this movie garnered unfavorable criticism and can now be streamed on SunNXT.
In terms of his work, Santhanam made a comeback to movie theaters this year with the film titled “Devil’s Double Next Level”.
