In 2025, when Superman makes his debut in the DC Universe, Krypto, our super canine, will take center stage in a collection of brief movies.
Under the guidance of director James Gunn, Superman is set to hit American movie theaters this upcoming July. David Corenswet takes on the role of Clark Kent, while Rachel Brosnahan brings Lois Lane to life on screen. Additionally, the super-powered dog Krypto, played by Clark, will have a significant part in the film’s plot.
According to ComicBook, Gunn has revealed that Krypto is set to appear in a collection of brief movies. These movies will start being released after the premiere of Superman.
The brief movies are set to debut in the fall season, and a grand total of four will be released. However, it remains uncertain whether Corenswet or any other actors from the Superman ensemble will join in these films as well.
What did James Gunn say about the Krypto short movies?
Gunn shared his enthusiasm for some entertaining Krypto shorts he’s been enjoying. He described them as amusing and fun, saying, “They’re great, actually, but this dog is quite mischievous.” He further explained that they are suitable for families and offer a delightful mix of humor and fun, making them quite appealing.
Peter Safran commented, “Indeed, it’s the lovable aspect of Krypto that shines in Superman. He may not be the most well-behaved dog.
Previously, Gunn mentioned on Instagram about Krypto’s character in Superman, stating that “Krypto was modeled after our dog Ozu, whom we adopted while I was writing Superman. Ozu, who had been in a hoarding situation with 60 other dogs and had no experience with humans, was quite challenging, to put it mildly. He wreaked havoc on our home, our belongings, and even ate my laptop. It took a long time before we could even touch him. One day, I wondered, ‘What if Ozu had superpowers?’, and that’s when Krypto entered the script and altered the storyline as Ozu was transforming my life. This seems like an ideal moment to introduce the less-than-perfect hero, Krypto, during #AdoptAShelterDog Month. By the way, these days, Ozu is usually quite a good boy.
Superman is set to hit U.S. theaters and IMAX screens on July 11, 2025, marking the start of the DC Universe’s initial chapter, entitled “Gods and Monsters.
