As a seasoned Dead By Daylight player with countless hours spent stalking survivors and escaping hunters’ clutches, I must say this year has been nothing short of thrilling, especially with the introduction of the 2v8 mode. The exhilaration of the first iteration was undeniable, but the recent changes and additions have made it even more enticing.

2024 was an outstanding year for Dead By Daylight, and one of the standout features was the arrival of the 2v8 (Two versus Eight) Limited Time Mode. This mode was a thrill in its initial release, and it’s even better now following its second update, thanks to additional killers, more maps, new character classes, and numerous adjustments. Although fans are eagerly anticipating the LTM to become a regular feature someday, a developer from Behaviour Interactive has denied speculation that they have ever confirmed the 2v8 mode will be made permanent.

2v8 mode by BeHaviour is only going to last until November 26th. While it’s here, players can earn a maximum of 500K Bloodpoints through its daily login rewards. Plus, you can accumulate even more if you also use the November 2024 codes. Once this Limited Time Mode concludes, players will get to experience Chapter 34, and the perks for both The Houndmaster and Taurie Cain have already been unveiled for this new chapter.

In just a fortnight, we’ll bid farewell to the 2v8 mode, which offers a delightful change from the usual 1v4 gameplay in Dead By Daylight. While fans can keep their fingers crossed for its permanence in the future, it’s important to note that Behaviour Interactive has yet to make any firm commitments about its return.

Dead By Daylight dev has not “confirmed” 2v8 mode will become “permanent”

Many enthusiasts within the Dead By Daylight community express their hope that the 2v8 game mode remains permanent, as it offers unique entertainment that deviates from the usual. Behavior Interactive is well-aware of this sentiment, and they have acknowledged it on multiple occasions in the past.

Due to the tremendous success and high demand, BeHaviour decided to prolong the initial version’s run. Moreover, they made a brief adjustment to keep the mode operational permanently in long-term memory (LTM).

In light of its widespread appeal, BeHaviour acknowledged that there has been a call for the feature “2v8” to be made permanent. While they appreciate the excitement, it’s important to note that this is just the initial version, and they anticipate making further improvements in the future.

In addition to BeHaviour’s post about X, Peantis, a former DBD community manager, has hinted that there could be plans for 2v8 to remain long-term. According to a Reddit post by Peantis, “It is possible that we will bring back 2v8 in the future after making some adjustments and improvements. We aim to refine and polish it before considering the idea of making it permanent.

Based on these replies, certain fans may have erroneously assumed that the game format will consistently be a recurring match type in the future. Yet, this assumption is incorrect, as clarified by the community manager and developer Mandy.

On the BeHaviour Interactive forums, a user mentioned that, as per the developers, the 2v8 mode is currently in an open beta phase. They are working diligently to iron out any issues and take all the feedback from players to improve the mode significantly once they decide to make it permanent.
