As a long-time fan of horror games, I can hardly contain my excitement for Dead By Daylight’s upcoming 2v8 mode! This new gameplay experience promises to bring a fresh and intense dynamic to the survival multiplayer genre.
In July, Dead By Daylight experienced significant excitement, culminating in the highly-anticipated arrival of 2v8 mode. For a long time, fans have looked forward to this update, and now it’s almost here! Below you will find essential details:
As a long-time fan of survival horror games, I’m thrilled to my core about the upcoming events in the Dead By Daylight universe. The July 2024 roadmap is nearing its end, and I can hardly contain my excitement for the Forgotten Memory Collection that’s due next week. This collection promises to be a memorable addition, and I can’t wait to immerse myself in it.
As a long-time fan of both Castlevania and Frank Stone from Supermassive Games, I can attest to the excitement that surrounds these franchises. However, it’s important to note that my enthusiasm is not solely focused on them. The anticipation within the Dead by Daylight (DBD) community for the upcoming 2v8 mode is palpable. I’ve been a part of this community for years, and the buzz around this new feature has been electric.
Dead By Daylight 2v8 mode release date
Behaviour announced that the 2v8 mode in Dead By Daylight will be launched on July 25th. (Source: Behaviour’s monthly roadmap)
As a long-time fan of Dead by Daylight (DBD), I was thrilled to hear about the new 2v8 mode during the livestream preview on July 16th. My excitement, however, was short-lived when Behaviour announced that it would only last until August 8th. This news came as an unfortunate blow, given that I had been looking forward to experiencing this new gameplay mode in depth.
Alongside the forthcoming occasion, BeHaviour announced the long-awaited cross-progression feature on July 22nd. This functionality is now accessible on all platforms. However, Switch users encounter difficulties, leading to criticism directed at Nintendo instead of BeHaviour.
When does DBD 2v8 mode start?
On July 25th, the scheduled time for the Dead By Daylight 2v8 mode release is 8 AM Pacific Time (PT), which is equivalent to 11 AM Eastern Time (ET), and 4 PM British Summer Time (BST) in the afternoon. This timing aligns with the usual hours for game updates and events, as seen in the recent Twisted Masquerade event.
In this game mode, referred to as “Mode with Two DBd Killers, Eight Survivors,” two killers face off against a group of eight survivors. The battles take place on expansive maps, larger than the standard versions found in the base game. Instead of hooks, there are cages present in the scene.
We will update this article if there is any change/update to the start time.

DBD 2v8 mode survivors and classes
Killers possess unique abilities, whereas survivors adapt roles through classes that can be shared among them.
Below are all of the survivor classes and their unique traits:
- Guide:
- Reveal your aura and the generator’s aura to your team when repairing
- See Generator auras
- Great skill check progression boost
- Medic:
- Grant nearby survivors a heal boost
- See auras of injured survivors

Playable maps
Among the original maps, only five are available for gameplay. These maps are bigger than those used in 1vs4 matches, and here they are:
- Autohaven wreckers
- Red Forest
- Macmillan Estate
- Crotus Penn Asylum
- Coldwind farm
As a passionate fan, I’d describe it this way: The maps I encounter are significantly larger than the standard ones, and they come with an unusual feature – they’re adorned with cages instead of the traditional hooks. Moreover, each map houses a total of 13 generators that require fixing. A minimum of eight generators must be repaired for survivors to achieve success.
As a long-time fan of Dead By Daylight, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news about the upcoming 2v8 mode! From what I’ve gathered, this new mode is going to add an extra layer of excitement and strategy to the game. However, let me clarify that this isn’t a permanent addition – it’s only available during the event, which runs from July 25th to August 8th.
