Matthew Ashford hopes for his return as Jack on Days of Our Lives
Recently, Matthew Ashford had an interview with Soap Opera Digest, where he expressed his desire to return to Days of Our Lives on a permanent basis. During the chat, he also discussed potential plotlines that might involve his character, Jack.
Ashford expressed his eagerness to bring back some of the past excitement at The Spectator, he suggested involving Jack in guiding the newcomers among the soap opera’s young actors. He pointed out that these new actors are still finding their footing within the show, and the creators have yet to fully grasp how to delve into their characters effectively.
Ashford mentioned that Jack could potentially fill the shoes of the late Vern Scofield, editor at The Spectator, a position previously held by Wayne Heffley’s character, who often engaged in unusual activities, according to Ashford. The actor pointed out Jack’s recent encounter with Leo as evidence of his interest in mentoring younger individuals, mirroring how Vern mentored Jack in the past.
Jack can take charge, and I’m eager to help out,” Ashford said. “I’m not sure about this ‘Leo’ reference or where it might lead, but I’m up for the challenge.
Additionally, The Bay’s star expressed his desire to feature in his daughter Gwen’s plotline. He commended Emily O’Brien for joining the series, labeling her as “an excellent addition.
Ashford suggested that Jack should try to be friends with Paul Telfer’s character, Xander, whom he referred to as “Jack’s secret indulgence.” He emphasized that Xander and Jack connected due to their shared struggles with personal issues, or “demons.” Interestingly, their friendship faced difficulties when Xander and Gwen seized control of half of The Spectator from Jack. However, Xander restored their friendship by returning the portion he had taken.
