In a recent interview with Soap Opera Digest, Leo Howard, who plays Tate on Days of Our Lives, talked about adjusting when Rachel Boyd took over the role of Sophia from Madelyn Kientz. This change was significant as the show already had a intricate storyline revolving around Tate and Sophia.

When Rachel Boyd took over the role of Sophia, there was a significant shift in the character’s traits. As a result, Leo Howard had to modify his acting to fit the revamped Sophia, who displayed numerous differences. Yet, with Boyd’s skillset, it proved to be a smooth transformation for Howard.

To Soap Opera Digest, Howard explained, “Whenever there’s any shift in things, it will be unique…I stepped into Jamie Martin Mann’s shoes as Tate, and he was fantastic. Regardless of who it is, every interpretation is distinct, and none are superior or inferior. It’s simply a fresh take because we’re all individual performers. Working with [Kientz] was wonderful; she’s an exceptional actress. However, [Boyd] has added something special to the role.

In relation to the modifications Boyd introduced, he stated, “Rachel’s unique brand of vulnerability fits perfectly in the plotline. Therefore, it was seamless for me to make this change. We do dearly miss Madelyn as Sophia, but we are incredibly thankful to have Rachel on board. She is truly excelling and a delight to collaborate with, adding rich layers and originality to the character of Sophia.

He also mentioned that there’s a noticeably distinct feel between the old and new Sophias, implying that the current authors have significantly altered our perception of her character.

He highly commended Rachel, stating, “Rachel truly embodies the anxiety, fragility, and sheer terror of being that age, pregnant, and uncertain about the future. Acting alongside her stirs a deep sense of empathy within me. It alters my approach to acting.

In summary, it appears that having Rachel step into this position at this pivotal moment was an excellent choice. The Days of Our Lives series might delve deeper into intricate storylines as we progress through upcoming episodes.
