As a longtime fan of David Spade‘s witty humor and Theo Von’s comedic charm, I couldn’t be more thrilled about their upcoming buddy comedy “Busboys.” Having grown up watching Spade on Saturday Night Live and Grown Ups, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia for his return to the big screen. And with Theo Von, whose podcast I listen to religiously and who first caught my attention in Reality Bites Back, this duo promises an unforgettable on-screen chemistry.
In a forthcoming buddy comedy titled “Busboys,” the renowned Emmy nominee David Spade (from “Just Shoot Me!” and “Grown Ups”) and the popular stand-up comedian Theo Von (“Reality Bites Back”) will take on the leading roles. Filming is set to commence in Los Angeles on January 10, 2025.
The story unfolds in an Arizona border town, focusing on David and Theo, buddies who believe that working as waiters is the solution to all their troubles. However, they soon realize their mistake.
Who is involved in Busboys?
Under the guidance of director Jonah Feingold, the script penned by Spade and Von will steer the crew. Not only will they star in the production, but they’ll also produce it, working side by side with Robert Ogden Barnum. They’re personally funding this project as well.
Spade is excited to share an unexpected comedy with everyone, as he mentioned through Variety.
As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share that after my hilarious stint in Netflix comedy The Wrong Missy back in 2020, I’m diving back into the lead role for a movie project titled Spade. In addition to that, I can’t wait for you all to see me in Jonah Hill’s upcoming directorial film, Outcome, alongside Cameron Diaz and Keanu Reeves. And here’s an exciting tidbit: I’m also set to star in Diablo Cody’s untitled HBO series revolving around a musician, recovering addicts, and an unexpected friendship with a young actress!
Most notably recognized for his role as the host of This Past Weekend podcast, he initially garnered attention through his appearances on various reality shows during the 2000s such as MTV’s The Challenge game show, NBC’s Last Comic Standing Season 4, and Comedy Central’s Reality Bites Back competition series.
