As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the recent news about Mintrocket becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of Nexon Korea has left me both intrigued and hopeful. Having witnessed the meteoric rise of Dave the Diver, I can attest to its addictive gameplay loop and immersive underwater adventure.

As the dedicated gamer I am, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! The creators behind Dave the Diver, the studio known as Mintrocket, are about to be part of a bigger family – Nexon Korea! It’s an honorable transition that will see our studio become a fully owned subsidiary.

On September 11, 2024, Nexon declared its plans to incorporate Mintrocket studio as a separate entity under their umbrella. Now, Mintrocket will be entirely owned by the South Korean publishing giant, Nexon. Moreover, Nexon’s objective is to boost the recognition and power of the Mintrocket brand, with a focus on creating exceptionally innovative video games.

According to Nexon, Mintrocket’s emphasis on “compelling small-sized games” sets it apart from their larger scale productions. It appears that Nexon intends to cater to various types of video games, including both the smaller and more extensive ones.

Mintrocket burst onto the gaming world with the debut of their smash-hit game, Dave the Diver. This title gained widespread popularity and was even nominated for Best Indie Game at The Game Awards 2023, surprisingly enough, as it wasn’t created by an independent studio. Shacknews critic Donovan Erskine hailed it as a “sudden success” in his review, commending its captivating gameplay mechanics.

Since launching Dave the Diver, Mintrocket has been anything but idle. They’ve unveiled a brand-new multiplayer game titled Wakerunners, and there’s also a project in the works known as Nakwon: Last Paradise.
