Dave Filoni on why his Mandalorian and Ahsoka Star Wars crossover movie is taking so long

At the Star Wars Celebration in Japan, Ahsoka’s director Dave Filoni shared updates on the progress of his planned Star Wars crossover film during a conversation with Collider.

When asked about the progress of the movie, Filoni replied, “The development process is lengthy due to my preference for working on extensive storylines. I consider multiple elements all at once, looking for ways to make the project stand out with unique set pieces and a compelling narrative.

Moreover, the director confirmed that he’s actively developing Season 2 of his 2023 series Ahsoka. He mentioned, “As these narratives evolve, they could potentially alter events influencing future happenings and my subsequent actions.

Although involved with Ahsoka Season 2’s production, Filoni admitted that he’s also dedicating time to the crossover film, explaining “It’s a matter of juggling, but I’m consistently putting in the effort, developing scenes and I have a good idea of several scenes and where they fit, so you essentially insert them as you progress.

Filoni’s Star Wars film will have characters from the universe’s Disney+ shows coming together.
