Dateline NBC: What Happened to Ken Juedes & How Was the Case Solved?

As a true crime enthusiast and someone who has followed the Ken Juedes case closely since its unfolding in 2006, I am both intrigued and saddened by this complex story of deceit, betrayal, and justice finally being served. The details of this brutal murder have left me in awe of the investigative work done by law enforcement over the years to finally bring Cindy Schulz-Juedes to trial and ultimately secure a conviction for her role in the crime.

NBC’s Dateline will re-investigate the August 2006 murder of Ken Juedes in an episode named “The Trouble at Dill Creek Farm.” This broadcast, airing on Friday, July 19, at 9 p.m. ET, promises to unveil unexpected details regarding the crime and the identity of the perpetrator. Additionally, it will provide insights into how law enforcement solved the case and their suspicions towards someone in Juedes’ circle.

It has been claimed that Cindy Schulz-Juedes of Ken Juedes went to her neighbor’s residence, informing them that her husband had extensive bleeding on his chest. Upon the arrival of law enforcement, it was uncovered that Juedes had sustained two gunshot injuries – one in the chest and another in the back. According to Oxygen, Schulz-Juedes expressed ignorance regarding the incident, stating that she hadn’t stayed inside their house for the night. Furthermore, a doctor diagnosed her with a minor sinus infection, which caused her to sleep in the camper instead.

For over a decade, I’ve been following this intriguing case, with Schulz-Juedes being named as the prime suspect all along. Yet, despite intensive investigations, the elusive killer remained at large. That was until late 2019 when police experienced a major breakthrough and apprehended Cindy Schulz-Juedes for the murder of her husband, Ken Juedes. During questioning, she provided conflicting accounts that left law enforcement officials skeptical. Furthermore, it was disclosed that Juedes’ life insurance policies could have served as a significant motivation behind the heinous crime, according to reports in Wausau Daily Herald.

How was Ken Juedes’ murder case solved?

In October 2021, Cindy Schulz-Juedes stood trial for allegedly taking the life of her husband, Ken Juedes. According to reports from FOX11, the prosecution argued that Schulz-Juedes committed the murder due to financial motives. It was revealed during the proceedings that Juedes held multiple insurance policies worth over $900,000. In contrast, the defense stated their client’s innocence and pointed fingers at a quintet of men as the real culprits behind Ken Juedes’ demise. Throughout the trial, Schulz-Juedes continued to assert her innocence, insisting she didn’t take her husband’s life.

In October 2021, a jury determined that Cindy Schulz-Juedes was involved in the premeditated killing of her husband and obstructed an officer, leading to convictions for first-degree intentional homicide and obstruction. Consequently, she was given a life sentence, according to FOX11. However, three years later, in July 2023, prison staff discovered Schulz-Juedes unresponsive in her cell with severe head trauma, ultimately resulting in her death. Authorities subsequently accused another inmate of being responsible for Schulz-Juedes’ murder, as reported by WSAW.

Dateline NBC will air the new episode on Friday, July 19, at 9 p.m. ET.
