Dataminers find references to the PS5 Pro in No Man’s Sky’s latest build

As a long-time fan of No Man’s Sky and a proud owner of a PlayStation 5, I was beyond excited to hear about the latest update for the game, The Worlds Part 1 overhaul. I couldn’t wait to dive back into the infinite universe and explore the new features.

Last week brought about a significant and awe-inspiring overhaul to No Man’s Sky, which included the Worlds Part 1 revamp. This update marked a complete rewrite of the game’s procedural generation algorithms and transitioned it to the new Light No Fire tech engine. It’s intriguing to consider what could be hidden beneath the surface. Clues from data-miners suggest the possibility of Trinity, an alleged codename for the upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro version.

Obtained from a Twitter post by the user @bomber_, they were the first to come across this detail. Regrettably, if there was a less challenging game for this information to surface in, it would be No Man’s Sky. Although the recent update brought some changes, the PS5’s hardware isn’t significantly put to the test by this game. Consequently, comparing the presets reveals minimal differences.

The significant variation lies in how “WaterQuality” is labeled – Ultra on the Pro version and High on the standard console. Beyond this modification to the “LowestDynamicResScalingFactor,” there isn’t a substantial distinction. Previously mentioned, it’s reasonable to assume that No Man’s Sky creators don’t feel compelled to surpass these settings for visual accuracy. If this were a game like Final Fantasy XVI or Dragon’s Dogma 2, which have known issues on the PS5, then we could expect a more meaningful comparison.

Based on unconfirmed reports and leaks, the PS5 Pro is anticipated to come with a more powerful processor running at a higher frequency, as well as an expanded system memory. Its standout feature is said to be advanced ray tracing technology, which PlayStation is urging developers to prioritize for improved graphics.

The PS5 Pro has been the center of attention in news articles lately due to vague reports from Tom Henderson, who hasn’t provided clear information about whether it will be released this year or not. Since then, there have been numerous rumors circulating about its release date. However, nothing is confirmed yet. What we do know is that the PS5 Pro has been given the codename “Trinity,” adding to speculation that it could indeed be a future console release.
