Daryl Dixon - The Book of Carol episode 3, L'Invisible highlights and recap

As a fan who has been following The Walking Dead since its inception, I must say that the latest episodes of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol have been nothing short of exceptional. The world-building and character development in these episodes have been top-notch, especially with the introduction of Marion Genet and her enigmatic backstory.

In the opening episodes of Season 2 for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol, we were treated to two well-crafted episodes that expanded the universe, as the character of Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) returned to the narrative. The third episode serves as a reminder of why the original spinoff’s first season was so exceptional.

Approach with caution, as the following content reveals key plot points from the third episode, titled “The Invisible,” in the series The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’s Story – Carol’s Journal.

In this episode, we delved into the fascinating background of Marion Genet, played by Anne Charrier, head of The Pouvoir, or the Living’s Power. Simultaneously, viewers witnessed Sylvie (Laïka Blanc-Francard) standing firm in her beliefs to safeguard Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi). Meanwhile, Carol crossed paths with Genet, while Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Isabelle (Clemence Poesy) were detained for attempting to rescue Laurent. It’s worth noting that Laurent managed to escape with Fallou (Eriq Ebouaney).

“L’Invisible” – highlights

In the beginning, it was disclosed that Genet had been employed at the Louvre within the cleaning team, finding visitors’ indifference towards the museum’s artistic masterpieces deeply troubling. As events began to unfold during the onset of the outbreak, she witnessed a tragic loss – her husband being devoured by a walker. However, her ruthless behavior as a malevolent leader overshadows any compassion that might be felt for her character.

Preparations for the upcoming ceremony were being overseen by Losang’s newly appointed right-hand woman, Jacinta. This ceremony was significant as it would expose Laurent to danger, with him being bitten by a walker to confirm his destiny, since they believed he would be immune to the bite. To keep Laurent sedated and compliant during the ritual, Losang opted for tea. Fortunately, the ceremony was disrupted by Daryl, Isabelle, and Fallou.

As a gamer, I draw upon every last bit of my resolve to safeguard Laurent. Though I ultimately meet my end, I do all I can to warn everyone about the sinister plans for the boy, and relentlessly search for him with the aim of shielding him. In this episode, the heart-wrenching instant comes when Losang exploits Sylvie, a dear friend of Laurent’s, as the walker that delivers the fatal bite. Fortunately, Daryl swoops in to end Sylvie’s undead ordeal.

At Maison Mere, Genet’s Pouvoir headquarters, Carol finds herself thriving, even though she’s effectively a prisoner. She starts investigating Daryl’s whereabouts here. In an intriguing scene, Carol meets Genet near the Mona Lisa, which Genet claims is the original since “I’m the one who took it down from the wall.” A striking moment occurs when Carol’s smile echoes that of the Mona Lisa, hinting at her own secrets. Carol also witnesses a display of Genet’s power when she makes one of her Guerriers eat food off the floor as punishment for bullying another.

In this scenario, Genet and Carol open up truthfully with one another. Carol reveals nearly all the truth to Genet, feeling she is progressing in their relationship. However, Genet deceives Carol afterward. Carol plans to raise an army of walkers using her Guerriers members, together with herself. The experiments that Carol witnessed were merely the initial phase of Genet’s scheme to command an undead army under her power. (It seems unlikely that this turn of events will have negative consequences for Genet.)

It appears that Daryl and Isabelle’s affection is growing stronger. At the Nest, Daryl exhibits bravery, but they both get captured by Losang, who intends to find Laurent’s whereabouts through torture. In a heartfelt moment, Isabelle requests a story from him, seeking comfort in his voice. He shares his tale of journeying to France, motivated by the desire to reunite with his family. The situation then shifts, suggesting that encountering her might have brought about this change.

On October 20th, the fourth episode of “The Walking Dead” series featuring Daryl Dixon is back, titled “Paradise for You – The Book of Carol.
