As a die-hard fan of The Walking Dead franchise, I must say that the latest season 2 finale of Daryl Dixon: The Book of Carol was nothing short of exhilarating! The cliffhanger ending and the promise of a third season set in Spain have me on the edge of my seat.
Recently, AMC broadcasted the final episode of season 2 for “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon—The Book of Carol”. This season ended on a high note, setting up an exciting premise for the upcoming third season, which is expected to take place in Spain.
Approach with care, as the following content may reveal details about season 2 of “The Walking Dead” focusing on Daryl Dixon and his connection with “Carol”.
In the coming third season of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” the narrative will carry on. Instead of filming in France, production has shifted to Spain, starting in August 2024. A sneak peek (as shown below) was unveiled on November 3.
It’s been established that Melissa McBride will reprise her role as Carol in the third season, a detail already hinted at in the season finale when we saw Carol and Daryl journeying together through the Chunnel en route to England.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 cast
In the upcoming episodes, Daryl Dixon (Reedus) and Althea (McBride) will reappear, eventually linking up with Laurent (played by Louis Puech Scigliuzzi), whose character we last saw departing France on a plane. At this time, there’s no news about when Ash (Manish Dayal) or other characters like Codron (Romain Levi) will be back in the storyline.
As a gamer excitedly sharing the news, I’m thrilled to announce that Emmy-winning actor Stephen Merchant and Spanish star Óscar Jaenada are joining us in season 3! In the first sneak peek video, we get a glimpse of a Wild West-style theme for this season. Earlier in September, we announced Eduardo Noriega, Alexandra Masangkay, Hugo Arbués, and Candela Saitta as part of the cast. Then, on September 26th, more names were added to the roster: Cuco Usín, Gonzalo Bouza, Greta Fernández, Hada Nieto, Stephen Merchant, Yassmine Othman, Irina Björklund, Armando Buika, Javier Taboada, Boré Buika, Anna Gras, Claudio Bandini, Pedro Bachura, and Elena Sándell. Can’t wait to see these talented individuals bring their characters to life!
In simpler terms, the showrunner, David Zabel, hinted at Stephen Merchant’s appearance in the series, mentioning that he portrays an intriguing character who appears early on.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 release date speculation and more
Predicting an exact premiere date for a new season can be tricky. However, we know that AMC will air the second season of “The Walking Dead: Dead City” in Spring 2025. This could potentially mean another fall release for “Daryl Dixon,” but as of now, no official announcement has been made.
Zabel hinted that Daryl and Carol take an intriguing detour before reaching Spain. The sneak peek video suggests they travel by sailboat to London initially, and then potentially to Spain. The teaser’s slogan is “Their journey continues. Together,” but it seems parts of their journeys might be separate, as Daryl is depicted on a solo motorcycle trip. However, the trailer concludes with them reunited once more.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Zabel expressed that both characters, Daryl and Carol, aim to return to America alongside Laurent for his safety. However, their path back won’t be a straightforward one.
The characters should not settle down. It should be a road show. They have to keep moving [to return home]. At the end of season two, they’re going somewhere. We don’t know exactly where, and it’s not a direct line to the next place they go. But the idea is to keep the characters struggling and striving to get home and moving.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon returns to AMC and AMC+ exclusively in 2025.
