Daryl Dixon season 3 confirmed with story moving to Spain, here's everything we know

As a dedicated gamer and avid fan of The Walking Dead universe, I am beyond excited for the upcoming second season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, subtitled “The Book of Carol.” Having grown up with the main series since its inception in 2010 and being captivated by the expansive and intricately woven post-apocalyptic world TWDU has created, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and anticipation as we delve deeper into the story of Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride).

As a longtime fan of “The Walking Dead” universe, I’m thrilled to share my excitement about the upcoming second season of “Daryl Dixon” on AMC and AMC+. With the premiere set for September 29, fans like me can’t wait to see Melissa McBride reprise her iconic role after her emotional departure from the main series. The fact that this new season is subtitled “The Book of Carol” piques my curiosity even more – I’ve always been fascinated by Carol’s journey and growth throughout the show.

Daryl Dixon is the fifth offshoot and the second directly linked show of The Walking Dead, which first aired in 2010. The original series ran for eleven seasons and produced several excellent spin-offs set within the same universe. Daryl Dixon’s series made its debut in 2023 and will begin its second season this fall. There were rumors that the show had been renewed for a third season, which was subsequently confirmed at Comic-Con.

In the interview at the “Variety Studio” (referenced below), the team behind the show, including the cast members, were present to share insights about the series and its upcoming third season. Notably, this season will be filmed in Spain instead of the previous locations. When queried regarding the motivation for this shift, Reedus jokingly mentioned “sangria.” However, Zabel confirmed that while the appealing Spanish cuisine, particularly sangria, played a role, the primary reason was to advance the storyline of Daryl (Reedus) and Carol as they travel back home.

As a dedicated gamer, I’d put it like this: I, Greg Nicotero, the director, executive producer, and special effects mastermind behind The Walking Dead, shared an intriguing insight during an interview. We decided to shift our production base to Europe for an exciting reason – to introduce a fresh backdrop for our beloved characters. Zabel further emphasized that this unique element sets our series apart from other versions of The Walking Dead.

Based on reports from Variety, the production of this series is scheduled to occur in Spain, specifically in Madrid. The narrative will unfold across different parts of the country, such as Galicia, Aragon, Catalonia, and Valencia.

In Season 3, Carol and Daryl persist in their quest to return to their loved ones. However, their route becomes increasingly complex, guiding them through uncharted territories with continually shifting circumstances. Along the way, they encounter the diverse impacts of the walker infestation on different communities.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – season 2 – The Book of Carol

Among the three shows derived from the original, “Dead City,” “The Ones Who Live,” and “Daryl Dixon,” the last one stands out as it is set in France. This expansion of the universe provides viewers with a peek into how other nations have been affected by the outbreak. With a fresh French cast and crew, the “Daryl Dixon” series offers a unique perspective on a post-apocalyptic world. According to Reedus, filming with the French team is quite distinct from his experiences in Georgia. He mentions that production there can feel mechanical, but in France, the crew takes a more thoughtful approach. They often pause to delve deeper into the motivations of the characters they’re filming. This results in a significantly different look and feel for the show compared to anything seen in “The Walking Dead Universe.”

According to Reedus, he holds strong faith in the show and has made a daring declaration about the conclusion of Daryl Dixon’s season 2 finale.

I think the finale of season 2 is the best one hour of Walking Dead anything ever. And I’ve been here since day 3, so for real, it’s my favorite one hour of Walking Dead anything.
