As someone who has spent a significant part of my life within the sacred walls of temples and places of worship, I find this incident utterly disheartening. The sanctity of these spaces is meant to foster peace, harmony, and spiritual growth, not become a stage for petty politics or personal vendettas.

In an unexpected turn of events, a priest has been temporarily removed from duty due to his possession of a picture of the Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, who is currently facing murder charges, within the sacred confines of the temple.

On August 6, the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department in Karnataka took action to suspend the priest. They have additionally initiated an internal investigation concerning this case.

It is said that the priest secretly stored an image of the sandalwood actor within the temple, using it during a religious ceremony. This act has caused strong reactions from the public after clips of the supposed ritual inside the Dodda Basaveshwara temple in Ballari district became publicly available online.

1) Locals and worshippers are urging the authorities to dismiss a priest known as Mallikarjun Swamy, or Malli. At the same time, the judicial detention of Darshan Thoogudeepa and his companions has been prolonged until August 11th.

The reason behind this request is to ensure the continuity of the investigation without any interference or disruption by the suspects involved in the case.

Additionally, it’s stated that bail was refused to stop the celebrity from influencing witnesses, given his high profile status. The police had previously flagged this concern due to a report of threats against witnesses submitted to local law enforcement.

For those unfamiliar, Darshan Thoogudeepa was taken into custody by the Bangalore (Bengaluru) police on June 11, due to suspected links with the murder of Renuka Swamy, who was 33 years old.

In a recent incident, the individual involved was found to be an ardent admirer of Darshan. It is said that this person sent inappropriate messages to Pavithra Gowda, who is his co-star and rumored partner. Interestingly, both have been taken into custody regarding this case. Additionally, based on reports, Renuka publicly accused Gowda of being the cause of Darshan’s marital issues.

As a response to the allegedly harmful remarks and charges levied against him, it’s alleged that Darshan orchestrated the young man’s death and is even rumored to have subjected him to cruel treatment. Besides Thoogudeepa and Gowda, 15 additional individuals have also been apprehended.
