In the coming days, ComingSoon will unveil an exclusive sneak peek of a clip titled “Dark Side of the Power Rangers” from the upcoming episode of Investigation Discovery’s new six-part documentary series, “Hollywood Demons“. This Power Rangers-focused episode is set to air on Monday, April 7th from 9-11pm ET on ID. For those who can’t catch it live, the episode will be available to stream on Max.
This docuseries peels back the layers of Tinseltown to reveal the darker side of Hollywood, from troubled families like the Von Erich wrestling clan to well-known personalities such as Stephen Collins from 7th Heaven, who are a stark contrast to their beloved on-screen personas. Shows like Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and The Real Housewives have also faced their fair share of misfortunes and scandals. Hollywood Demons delves into the hidden world behind the glamour, sharing heart-wrenching stories from industry insiders, collaborators, and survivors who experienced abuse and hardship. To provide context and analysis, we hear from addiction specialist Dr. Drew Pinsky and culture writer Scaachi Koul.

What happens in the Dark Side of the Power Rangers clip?
As a devoted fan, I’m reminiscing about a fascinating video clip that brings back memories of two iconic characters from the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. They shared an anecdote about Thuy Trang, who played the Yellow Ranger, Trini Kwan, during the initial seasons. Unfortunately, due to financial and contract disagreements, she, along with Austin St. John and Walter Emanuel Jones, departed the series midway through Season 2. Sadly, Trang passed away in a car accident at just 27 years old in 2001.
Every ’90s child recalls Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the iconic live-action superhero series. Hidden beneath the vibrant spandex and martial arts flips is a somber truth of hardships and controversies. The upcoming episode offers exclusive footage of a fan-turned-gunman with a chilling objective: to murder the show’s most revered star. Tragically, the same actor encounters an untimely end just a few years later.
In 1993, the Power Rangers made their debut, using clips from the Japanese show Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger as a basis. After its launch, it quickly became part of pop culture, leading to a massive range of toys, figurines, and other merchandise, along with numerous sequels and films. Toho even filmed unique battles specifically for the American version, which fans know as Zyu2 footage. The original series ran for three seasons and 145 episodes before concluding in 1995.
