I was already hooked on this series, but with each new installment, it’s like Robert keeps adding another layer of depth, making it harder and harder to put the books down.
Regarding romance novels, Katee Robert’s “Dark Olympus” stands out from the rest, even when compared to “Dark Restraint.”
For fans keeping up with the series, each novel explores a unique couple, with some featuring well-known pairings like Hades and Persephone in “Neon Gods” and Helen, Patroclus, and Achilles in “Wicked Beauty.”
When you believe you’ve figured out the series, Katee Robert surprises you with another twist that leaves you guessing. Last year’s conversation about Dark Restraint had me on the edge of my seat with anticipation.

Similar to my previous critiques, I’ll strive to keep things ambiguous. If you’re intrigued, the book “Dark Olympus” by Katee Robert could be a suitable choice for those seeking a captivating dark romance. These novels gradually become more intense, yet they maintain compelling narratives, well-developed characters, and of course, passionate love stories.
Ever since I’ve stepped foot in Olympus, I’ve been under my father Minos’ watchful eye, a target on my back due to my lineage as his daughter Ariadne. But the tides have turned, and with a newfound sense of determination, I find myself standing on the precipice of change. In gratitude for my own salvation, I’ve chosen to cross over to the other side, aiming to bring down my father and rescue as many souls as possible from his oppressive reign. The adventure ahead is treacherous, but I am ready to face whatever comes next in this saga known as Midnight Ruin.
Despite appearances, the situation isn’t straightforward because Ariadne departed, leaving the Minotaur behind. Though he comes across as hard-nosed towards everyone, Ariadne is the Minotaur’s Achilles’ heel. These two have an inexplicable pull towards each other and can’t seem to stay apart. Considering King Minos has commanded the Minotaur to eliminate Ariadne, you can understand why their future looks bleak.
Katee Robert took the storytelling a notch higher with “Dark Restraint“. The narrative became darker, rougher, and seemed to brim with more anguish and tension within the romantic connection. Moreover, the plot thickened significantly in this book, making it all the more gripping. Trust me, after reading it, you’ll understand what I mean, but it leaves me thrilled for the upcoming story in “Sweet Obsession“.
After completing yet another Dark Olympus book, I find myself yearning to revisit the entire series once more. Katee Robert’s storytelling skillfully intertwines the plotlines in such a captivating manner that it leaves me in awe. If you are an existing fan of the Dark Olympus series or wish to catch up, you definitely don’t want to overlook Dark Restraint.
