This week saw another development in the ongoing legal struggles of Dark and Darker’s creator, Ironmace. Their game has been removed from the Epic Games Store, and Ironmace has stated that they are unsure about the reason behind this action. It appears that this decision was made due to a disagreement with a rival party, as suggested by the situation.
According to a report by PCGamesN, Ironmace addressed the removal of Dark and Darker from the Epic Games Store through their Discord channel. In this discussion, they explained the reasons behind this action.
Developers have clarified that the game ‘Dark and Darker: Legendary Status’ remains on Epic Games Store, but it’s not the main game – it’s an upgrade package for it. Ironmace advises against buying it thinking it’s the primary game itself. The rival party in this dispute isn’t explicitly mentioned by Ironmace, but it’s likely Nexon, with whom they are embroiled in a significant legal fight. Nexon claims that Ironmace illegally used assets and company secrets to create ‘Dark and Darker’. Although a court ruled in favor of Nexon, awarding them $6 million, they continue to seek more compensation in a higher court.
Previously, Nexon removed Dark and Darker from Steam, but the game reappeared later. Since Dark and Darker is not available on the Epic Games Store, Ironmace intends to offer alternative solutions for those who played it there. However, they will disclose these plans at a later time. For now, keep an eye out for more information and news regarding Dark and Darker.
