In a recent chat, actor Charlie Cox discussed “Daredevil: Born Again,” providing insights into certain behind-the-scenes aspects of an episode. He applauded the series’ present trajectory, emphasizing its team-oriented approach, but confessed to resisting one particular plot development.
Charlie Cox ‘wasn’t into’ Daredevil: Born Again’s bank heist episode
As a gamer, I’ve got to admit, when Charlie Cox spoke with The Playlist about Daredevil: Born Again, he shared his thoughts on the bank heist episode titled “With Interest.” Being honest, it wasn’t my cup of tea. In fact, out of all the episodes, it was my least favorite. I just can’t see Matt Murdock pulling off a bank heist in 2025 – feels more like something from a ’70s game, way too old-school for today’s tech-driven world. To make matters worse, the device used in the heist seemed pretty primitive compared to what we’ve got nowadays.
Even though he initially resisted, Cox admitted that the particular episode continues to be well-received by viewers. “I frequently hear from people that they adore that episode,” he stated. He further explained that internal assessments demonstrate it is one of the most highly rated episodes, demonstrating how audience appreciation can sometimes contrast personal opinions.
Cox spoke about the specific episode while chatting with The Playlist about the overall creative progression of the show. He explained that due to the WGA and SAG strikes, the original version of Born Again was reworked. A fresh pilot and finale were drafted, and numerous scenes were reshot under the supervision of new showrunner Dario Scardapane. Essentially, Cox stated that they pieced together the project, giving credit to Scardapane and Marvel producers for skillfully adapting to the change.
Dario Scardapane’s latest work has been highly commended for its direction during this current season, with a focus on making it feel more interconnected among characters. According to Cox, this revival gives depth to characters that were previously underdeveloped in the show’s earlier version. Moreover, he found the scripts exceptionally well-written, even going as far as calling them “some of the finest writing we’ve seen on this series.
The second season is currently in production.
