As a seasoned gamer and avid Marvel fan, I must admit that the news of Daredevil: Born Again has sent my heart racing! With the series set to premiere five years after the Netflix show, it feels like an eternity since we last saw Matt Murdock in action.
Wilson Bethel, who plays Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) series “Daredevil: Born Again,” has confirmed that the storyline will unfold five years after the conclusion of the Netflix version of the show.
The highly-anticipated Marvel Studios’ Daredevil revival, titled “Born Again,” debuts on Disney+ in March. This new chapter picks up from the successful Netflix series, with Charlie Cox once again stepping into the shoes of Matt Murdock. Additionally, we’ll see the return of Bethel as Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Franklin “Foggy” Nelson, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, and many others.
In a conversation at Fan Expo San Francisco, as reported by Collider, Bethel revealed that the storyline of “Daredevil: Born Again” will start five years after the events of Season 3 of Daredevil.
What did Wilson Bethel say about Daredevil: Born Again?
Bethel noted about the Marvel series: “One intriguing aspect I see is, perhaps this might be distinct for sitcoms or similar genres, but when characters age alongside each other over an extended period, as if in real life, and the writing team effectively adapts to this real-life progression, details like graying hair or wrinkles emerge. Consequently, the characters seem to grow and change, even when the show isn’t airing.
“Five years have passed since we last saw Born Again, and when the show returns, it won’t be immediately after the events we previously witnessed. Instead, the storyline will pick up five years later. This means that the characters have lived through five years of life, with all the experiences and changes that come with time. Even if their specific stories aren’t shown on screen, there will still be an added layer of depth to their characters, reflecting the passage of time. As an actor, this allows me to incorporate my own personal growth and experiences into the roles I play, making them feel more authentic.
Daredevil: Born Again premieres on March 4, 2025. The first season will have nine episodes.
