Daredevil: Born Again Directors Reveal Original Opening Scene for MCU Series

Initially, the directors of “Daredevil: Born Again” had planned a different opening scene for the Marvel Cinematic Universe series, which was changed following the creative restructuring.

The upcoming series “Daredevil: Born Again” is spearheaded by showrunner Dario Scardapane. Previously, Matt Corman and Chris Ord were slated as the main writers, but they were replaced in September 2023 due to a creative revamp of the show after a change in direction for the series.

After the creative restructuring, the original directors Michael Cuesta, Jeffrey Nachmanoff, and David Boyd remained part of the team, and Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead were brought in to take the lead directing roles.

Following a creative revamp, Michael Cuesta, Jeffrey Nachmanoff, and David Boyd continued on as directors, while Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead joined forces as principal directors.

What was the original opening for Daredevil: Born Again?

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Daredevil: Born Again directors reminisced about how the show was initially intended to kick off during the “initial phase of filming.

Moorhead stated, “This initial shot in the series, I think, had Matt wearing the costume. He then removed his mask, revealing an overwhelming sadness, tears, and everything else. After taking off the mask, that concluded the scene…It was intended to be the final event following Foggy’s death, providing insight into why he didn’t don the suit for such a long time. However, now we have an entire episode [101] dedicated to this.

Nachmanoff remarked, “I was present that very day, and let me tell you, it was brutally cold. However, the challenge lay in attempting something impractical all at once. Consequently, what you and Dario executed in the premiere episode had to be done. There was ample time for contemplation during the writers’ strike, and they eventually understood that we required an entire episode to facilitate this transition. That’s where the real gap was.

As a hardcore gamer, I’m thrilled to share that all eight episodes of Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again are now available for streaming on Disney+! Can’t wait for more action in March 2026 when Season 2 is expected to drop, though the exact premiere date remains under wraps for now.
