Charlie Cox is “overjoyed” with the final outcome of Daredevil: Reborn, after the fresh start in terms of creativity.
In March, the new series “Daredevil: Born Again” will debut on Disney+. This is a continuation of the Netflix series featuring Daredevil. Charlie Cox once again takes on the role of Matt Murdock, and Vincent D’Onofrio also returns to play Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in this Marvel Cinematic Universe show.
The production of this series encountered some rough patches. Initially, Matt Corman and Chris Ord were brought on board to script the show, but it had to halt production in 2023 due to the Writers Guild of America strike. Later in September 2023, concerns about the direction of Born Again were raised by Cox and D’Onofrio, leading Marvel Studios to revamp the series with a fresh creative approach. As a result, Corman and Ord were replaced as head writers, and Dario Scardapane took over as showrunner.
What did Charlie Cox say about the Daredevil: Born Again creative overhaul?
At the Daredevil: Born Again premiere, Cox told The Hollywood Reporter, “One of the fantastic aspects of working for this company was their ability to examine our work, take into account Vince and my suggestions about it, and adjust course; determine that the current direction wasn’t quite right and they knew how to alter it and improve it. I’m not aware of many companies that would do that – it requires a great deal of resources and personnel, so it’s wonderful to be here today, feeling excited about the outcome, knowing we landed in the place we aimed for.
D’Onofrio also commended the assistance from “everyone in charge, right down to the workers,” along with Marvel fans, who “spoke up strongly for us, and it’s truly astonishing how we managed to get this far. A large part of our success is due to their support.
Marvel Television‘s Daredevil: Born Again premieres on March 4, 2025, on Disney+.
